As a teenager (many, many, years ago) at home on a lazy Sunday afternoon, watching TV, I came across the movie "Sanctuary". And I'm not being dramatic when I say that when I saw Odetta I was left speechless. She seemed to me so fierce, intelligent, and beautiful – simply amazing. I've never forgotten how seeing her made me feel. I'm sorry that I haven't kept up with her career. Thanks for the reminder and the invitation to appreciate her again. After hearing about just a few of the monumental accomplishments of Afeni Shakur, I think she, along with the other women suggested, would make a wonderful Afrobella of the week.
