[...] So now for that word to the wise I mentioned. Remember two weeks or so ago I discussed a nasty cold I’d come down with? So I’d noticed that the horrible, hacking cough I had wasn’t going away. I was tackling it with over-the-counter meds, but there was no real progress. I was like, I can’t be THAT sick, I have too much work to do! My husband kept nagging me, “go to the doctor, go to the doctor,” but for a myriad of reasons, I didn’t manage to make an appointment (have you tried to make a doctor’s appointment in the height of holiday season? I swear, it’s damn near impossible). [...]

I haven't been sick all year and I thank my multivitamin for that, yessss!

When I do get sick, I usually sleep a loooooot but outside of that I get a big bowl of hot and sour soup to help clear my nasal passages and then I'll head over to Jamba Juice to get a Coldbuster. The drink has a lot ov Vitamin C and Zinc to boost your immunity. All that over the counter 'ish never does anything for me except knock me out.

Here's hoping for your swift recovery, Beautiful Bella.

Right now I'm taking 500MG of Vitamin C Timed Release a day and 3 Echinecea pills (2 in the morning and one at night).

When I get sick, it's all Tylenol Cold products, Vit C and Echinecea. Nyquil at night.

I do think I'm about to be all of that Emergen C and Airborne though. Stocking up this weekend.

An interesting thing I noticed is that I would get sicker when I weighed 150+ lbs more. I would get horribly ill the 2nd week of every December without fail. Since losing that weight, I haven't been sick like that since...knock on wood.

I'm a big Vitamin Water fan and I also love Emergen-C as well. I'm not big on alot of drugs. I'll suck it up during the day.

Then, because I know rest is the most important factor when it comes to healing, I'll take Alka Seltzer Plus Cold at night to help me sleep.

It clears up my symptoms and allows me to rest.

The minute my throat acts up: gargle with salt water and peroxide, then I take cloraseptic spray. Swab nose with Zicam swabs (best on the planet)!

I also used Airborne (generic version, most drugstores have them).

Constantly use antibacterial hand sanitizers, wipe down everything with alcohol...

Drink Green tea daily and multivitamins along with a cod liver tablet daily.

I had a cold for minimum of 3 days with this method.

I totally agree with the sage, honey, and garlic. Drinking TONS of water is essential too. Here is an article that has a tea recipe for colds & flus and herbs for congestion & coughs(sage, thyme, rosemary, etc.): http://ymib.com/daily-inspiration/health-holistics/articles/tea-time-health.html
