'Daughters of Legacy" was really good and really unexpected. As for the "Black In America" series, I am kind of "iffy" on the whole thing. I felt the same way about the series on black women done on NBC: The people who proposed the idea probably had really good intentions and wanted to show a varied black experience, but the execution was severly lacking. It also smacks of blacks being "others" in America who need to be dissected and examined in order to be understood. Hopefully CNN will prove me wrong.

there were some really tender moments in the Legacy special, especially JC walking his daughter down the aisle. We love the men who were the father's. I just felt that it wasn't a very journalistic interview. Sometimes because black people are under the lens of racist scrutiny the little bit of media that we do get is so slanted and operates under the 'only showing the best' mantra and we miss out on having some truly thought provoking, groundbreaking interviews/dailogs. I know it's a tricky task but I would have loved for the interviewer to ask some really thought provoking questions so it wouldn't seem as if he was pandering so much.

Loved daughtrs of Legacy. Cried like a baby when I saw Johnie walking his daughter down the aisle and realised the "human-ness" of these great men. I think you may have reversed the dates for the Black in America special but i'll be watching them both anyway.

I hear about the show on the Tom Joyner Morning Show and came home to add it to my Tivo Listing. Why wasn't the title in the mix. Saturday came, no title. Finally after I missed the three showing it appeared for Sunday at 5. I tivoed it and will watch it when I get back. Same thing for the other specials that they have coming..No title for me to put it on my Tivo To Do List. I am sensing that they don't want us to watch or give good ratings to these shows that talk about us and our issues. HMMMMMMM....makes you think!

One of my friends called me about 30 minutes before Daughters of Legacy came on. I missed the 1st half hour, but the 2nd half was beautiful. I eagerly look forward to watching the whole program this evening. It's wonderful to see CNN paying tribute to some wonderful Black Women and the even more wonderful Black men who were loving fathers to them.

Here's hoping that CNN streams this show online otherwise those of us abroad won't be able to see these two landmark documentaries.

I am really impressed by CNN for presenting both documentaries. One of the best poets that I have had the honor to meet will be a part of the Black in America series and I can't wait to watch Jon Goode tell us what it means for him to be Black In America. He also did a presentation on His God. Here it is on YouTube.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZCiYHLd38g

Interesting that the CNN doc has one part about the Black Man, and a seperate part about the Black Woman AND the Family. The dynamics of that decision make me go: hmm....
