When I’m going out somewhere special and I want to look and feel fierce, I wear my hair extra big, pull it back from my face with a comfortable headband, and rock some fly jewelry. A big, glorious afro puff looks extra amazing when paired with some oversized earrings. I’m also a big fan of a fabulous necklace, paired with subtler, more delicate ear adornments. And don’t get me started on hair jewelry. Let me share some of my latest discoveries with you all. Is this the sort of post that ends with a giveaway? It might be. Keep reading and you’ll find out!
I love finding out a fellow Trinidadian is doing big things, and Jade Gedeon is just such a Trini. Her jewelry line, We Dream in Colour is ethereal, eye catching, whimsical, and utterly gorgeous. You may have seen her leaf earrings at Urban Outfitters, online her selection is even better. Her brass vintage moth necklace is stunning, and the secret garden necklace looks like a prized grandmother’s heirloom. Some of her prices ain’t half bad either — mini batimamzelles earrings (those are dragonflies, for those of you not familiar with Trinidadian slang) are just $24, and her new, gorgeous Camille necklace is $34.
I wish I could get my shop on at a store like Max & Chloe, but alas my funds won’t allow me to buy the gold leaf necklace of my dreams. I can’t right now, so I’m keeping the fantasy shopping at a minimum and drooling over affordable baubles instead.
I am so gonna buy these Masai’s Shape polymer earrings, $22 at Urban Bazaar, and I’m feeling the refined elegance of the hoop earrings by Dushi Trade — beautiful gold plated hoops enhanced with dangling beads and feathers. These peacock hoops are so my style! More to come on Dushi Trade, bellas!
The last time Shecky’s Girls Night Out came to Miami, I felt a pull to Beryl Blush Blonde jewelry. Not just because the jeweler herself is a radiant woman of color, but because of her beautiful and distinctive jewelry! These heartbeat hoops are delicate and pretty, her golden wings are super trendy, and I dig these paisley squares and antique brass fan earrings. Love those – bold and feminine for $39, and ooh, necklaces to match! I did buy a pair of Beryl Blush Blonde earrings, but mine aren’t on the website! I got a sick pair of brass hoops with dragons at the bottom of them. The jeweler assured me they were one of a kind, and I paid less than $50 for them. If you live in a city where they have Shecky’s Girls Night Out, I say go, grab a girlfriend, and have a blast! I always find cheap, cute jewelry and they have complimentary cocktails, mini spa treatments, and discounts on all sorts of girly stuff.
I love bold, handcrafted jewelry, and I always find what I’m looking for on Etsy, the ultimate site for handmade items. After my last By Bellas For Bellas post, I was contacted by an awesome Etsy store owner, Tamra Gentry, the metalsmith and jewelry designer of the Gentry Design Company. This bella’s got amazing skills — just check out her Flickr page to see the range of her abilities. Her metal jewelry is gorgeous! Her sterling silver Ram’s Horn hoop earrings put such a fresh spin on traditional hoops (and they look gorgeous with curly hair!) At $85 they ain’t exactly cheap, but they’re timeless enough to call them an investment. I love her big, bold teardrop hoops, too. For bellas on a budget, Gentry Designs also makes beautiful Hair Thingys that range from $6 to $22. The Elegant Asian Carved Bone hair thingy is so elegant, but would get lost in my massive curls. I love the Sweet ‘Chelle hair thingy, a pink pearl and shell pony holder that will stretch gently to accomodate braids or locs. Very pretty. I think this would be lovely if you’re planning a wedding.
Speaking of hair adornments — let me share my new favorite thing with you. The beaded flowers of Ododo Originals were just what I’ve been looking for — beautiful, distinctive, and you can work em day or night. Mother of Pearl would be so gorgeous for a wedding. Royal Blue looks so lush in my hair, the purple and glimmering blue beads really look so much more beautiful when you’re holding it, than in the photo.
The clips are perfect for my hair texture – they slide in without pulling. And they’re large enough to make a statement without overshadowing your look. I adore Ododo. So much that I’m working with the designer for a special giveaway! Read the next post for rules on entering — hang tight bellas, we’re gonna end your Friday with something beautiful and new.
What’s your favorite of the items above? And when you do indulge in jewelry or accessories, where do you shop?

OMG Bella everything is soooo pretty, but I really the Moth necklace by Urban Outfitterd and the Peacock hoop earrings by Dushi Trade are to die for and lastly the hair adornments by Ododo Originals are nice too; the Morning Sunshine really caught my eye because yellow is my signature color.
When I indulge in jewelry or accessories, I shop all over, no particular place. If it’s pretty and out of the ordinary I buy it.

I simply love this story here. It’s all about the perfect accessories to take your look to another level! My favorite of the items about would be the DUSHITRADE’s peacock earrings.. from the moment i first saw those i had to get one.. and i did.. its just gorgeous.. simply beautiful.it’s what i call my conversation pieces. I say this because it’s not the only dushi item i own but every time i wear one from the collection i get great reviews.
I would pick up my ordinary wooden earrings and so on once in a while from a regular vendor.. but when i wanna step out the only product i wear is DUSHI!!!
Love it.. It’s all about fierness!
Proud Dushi wearer all the way in Guyana!!!

Love the Ram’s Horn earrings. Thanks for posting those!

All of the jewelry here is gorgeous, but that green leaf necklace is fall-fantastic!! I love jewelry so much that I started learning to make my own about a year ago. I’m not very advanced yet, but the advantage is that if I can’t find the perfect color, I can always look around for beads and jewels to put something together myself. Not to mention it’s a good post-work, glass of red wine in hand stress reliever. And I’m with you on colors. One of the best things about beautiful brown skin is that you can enjoy all those vibrant colors- purple is a special favorite.
Love the jewelry reviews, Bella. Love, love!

The display of jewelry, absolutely gorgeous. I love the fact that its not your typical jewelry because there is alot of thought placed in the creation and outcome of that piece. My favorite is the flower hair clip, something about it being in the hair, its danity, elegant and has flair to it and its a nice touch. There is something about shopping online for jewelry that tantalize my senses lol for real, because you come across pieces that you probably won’t find in stores especially on Etsy and Goddess Zuri.

These are beautifullll. Can anyone give me some advice about pierced ears. I have older holes which after 30 years of wearing earrings are starting to sag. I’m wondering if ears can be re-pierced with the hole put higher so that the hole will not merge into the older one. Any suggestions? I love the larger earrings but my ear pierceings aren’t strong anymore.

Earrings and bracelets are my thing! So, I love this post…because you put me up on a lot of sellers on Esty. Being that I never visited the site, I was surprised by the wealth of jewelry and the quality. One seller in particular (Lunaversoul.etsy.com) is the business. I just picked up 3 of her pieces and will be shopping there again soon!
