Run, don't walk, to your nearest Trader Joe's and get the Nourish shampoo and conditioner. It works as well as the 'old-school' shampoos (with all the sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate and all that other jazz that one finds only in a grad-school level chemistry class), but the price is wonderful and I love that it has all those organic herbs and extracts in it.

The Cantu shea butter leave-in conditioner is that stuff! Love it! I know they say that there's no such thing as the perfect product but for me, it truly is! It works best for my curls when my hair is wet - defines the curls, moisturizes them and keeps the frizzies down on the humid days (and I have like 3 different curl patterns in my head - works for all three!) I will definitely check out the Trader Joe's conditioner - I love trying new products and it is a couple of dollars less than the Cantu leave in so its worth a try. I also recommend Organics, by Africas Best products - I have stood by the Stimulating Therapy Shampoo and Hair Mayonnaise for ages, relaxed and natural - both really great conditioning products and very very inexpensive!

Cantu is one of my stand-bys! I use the Grow Strong daily, to soften the fro, & alternate w/ the leave-in conditioner, every other day. Although I'm a 4b w/ big nappy fro, I find it too heavy for my hair when it's wet, it makes my hair too slippery to twist properly (not that I'm the most coordinated person anyways), have to use it very sparingly while the hair's wet. But, I use it a lot on my dry hair, to soften, moisturize, etc. & it's great.

My other fave drugstore brand is Organic Root Stimulator's Olive Oil Hair Lotion & their Hair Mayonnaise, can't beat their Mayonnaise...

i'd love to give these african pride products a try because i cut my hair roughly 2+ years ago, and it still hasn't grown back. i definitely believe that this is due to excessive breakage. i have been searching like a mad woman for products that will nourish my hair and prevent breakage (or at least reduce my breakage to a minimum), and i haven't been that successful. all black women have struggled with their hair at one point and time, but we all deserve to find something that will work. i'd love to experiment with these products and start on the road to restoring my hair to it's great glory of 2+ years ago--and if you like it, it must be good!
thanks for all the tips afrobella.
