Michelle Obama was simply radiant, elegant, and beautiful. Just what the world needed to see in America's first lady.

royal is the word.

what i like about michelle obama's style is that she is so girly and womanly and playful and adventurous. she's just such a woman. -- i love seeing smart, cool women in dresses. i can't take that hillary clinton model of what a professional smart woman should look like and talk like.

but my favorite thing is her love of texture and detail. i love that her clothing doesn't fully translate over television because those cameras can't quite make sense out of the tones in the colors and the shimmer, the touchability of her clothes.

she's wonderful.

at the same time -- her style is suited to her age and i'm a generation younger than her. i don't want to have to choose between first Sunday "professional" wear, androgynous, sportiness and hoochie mama over-exposure.

and i hate office wear functional type clothing. ugh.

it's not easy to figure out how to look womanly at wonderful in your 30s.

i think michelle obama offers some indications in general principles of color, texture, and humor. and then they can be adapted to be somehow more youthful.

and praise song for the tall women!!!!!!

@ Mochasiren
I agree! I thought the same thing. It would have been more meaningful to an artist who endured segregated clubs and hotels to practice her craft 40 years ago to sing "AT LAST".

As far as Michelle's style I think she dresses appropriately for her age and build. I am not a fan of every outfit but she is never tacky and that is all that matters to me. I preferred the yellow outfit instead of the white gown and that is my 2 cents.

Oh...I am so glad that she is just a wonderfully beautiful regular looking black woman that our regular looking girls can look up to. Yeh!

Love Michelle, she's beautiful, classy, spirited & intelligent as hell.

Now, having said that, I will say that I did like the Inaugural outfit, just didn't care for the white ball gown. Too much going on with white, frills & one shoulder. Not her best choice. She has such potential though, in the end, I think she'll get it all together & just start blowing them away.

IF that's even what she cares about doing, anyways... I mean, priorities, priorities, right? LOL...

What would have been really GREAT is if the producers of the Neighborhood Ball had actually gotten Etta James to sing her classic song. I'm a young old-head (37) (as Michael Baisden puts it) and I wish Beyonce would go away for a while.

They are my new favorite couple. First Lady Michelle is truly awesome. I'd almost be happy if she was the president haha

I know this is going to sound crazy but...watching that video, combined with seeing him sitting at the Oval Office earlier today, I think I'm finally starting to believe that we really do have a black man in the White House...and a COOL BROTHA at that. :)

Yeah, I know, I saw the inauguration, I participated in the election...hell, I voted for him in the IOWA CAUCUS! woot woot! But part of my mind is STILL trying to wrap itself around the notion that this country actually elected a black person to the presidency. Maybe it'll hit me more when I see Guantanamo closed, or peace in the Mideast...

Um, anyway...Michelle. Loved the inaugural outfit, wasn't feeling the ball gown so much. Was DEFINITELY feeling that dance, though!
