I gotta admit — I’ve been kind of ambivalent about Ciara’s new direction. I dug her style when she was singing about keeping her Goodies in the jar, but now she’s adopted a hypersexed alternative persona and some of her latest moves have left this bella a bit cold.

So when I saw these pretty photos of Ciara over on Concrete Loop, I was pleasantly surprised. I love it! The commenters on Concrete Loop don’t seem to agree… but I wasn’t the only one digging her hairstyle. Lady Kinnks caught Ciara’s performance on Jimmy Kimmel and is feeling it too!

First Tyra on her Good Hair episode, now Ciara. Are cornrows coming back for the summer? I sure hope so. Please note — both Tyra and Ciara worked the look with strong, smoky eye makeup and a nude lip. Love it! I hope Ciara continues to bring cornrows back — she looks classy, elegant, and it’s refreshing to see! I love the hair. I think Ciara’s a beautiful woman and a talented entertainer, so I’m hoping the whole Super C thing is just a phase. But I’m also hoping the hair isn’t. (edited at 2 am – just found out via Twitter, Ciara’s hair was done by Crystal Oliver, hairstylist to the stars.

What do you think, bellas? Are you a Ciara fan? What do you think about the hair?

She looks GREAT with them. What's everyone else thinking? It showcases her gorgeous face and she's making me want them for the summer now. But I cry too much from being so dang tenderheaded.

I love Ciara! I also thinks that her hair looks really good in cornrows. I was just telling my friend that I was thinking about getting cornrows as a protective style for the summer. I hope that I can rock them as well as Ciara does.

i'm not please with her choice of video and song lately. i was SO happy to hear a woman talking about not having sex (though it was mixed with a sexual video a la Beyonce) that i didn't know what to do with myself. next thing i know, she portraying a stripper and licking Justin "I'm an Honorary Black Person" Timberlake's face. ugh! i say all that to say, no... i'm NOT feeling her King Koopa hair style.

Cornrows will always be a quick and sexy summer retreat from the blow dry and curl....Females from the DC, MD, VA area always rocks the 3 or 4 braids. I will say that I am not a big fan of Ciara's cornrows.. Whoever did them could try a gain...I mean, they are not bad but I've seen better. Come to DC Ciara so that we can show you how they really should be worn.

Again... why are people acting as if though Ciara has came out with some new found look... Ladies, we've been rocking that look for years!!!!!!!

I'm so glad that she has evolved from the young sneaker rocken teen to a Glam and well put together young lady, she has come a long way. I hope she never fires the new stylist:)

I'm definitely a fan of cornrows, and most braided styles in general. However, I have to agree with Minethatbird - Ciara's could be done a lot better.

Loving the hair, but not loving the music. She looks beautiful here.

I think the cornrow look works if it looks feminine, but sometimes it looks kind of butch. If it looks feminine it can be cute, like a. keys used to rock them.

They do look a bit like "prison braids"! lol I perfer a bit of a slant in the front and top when I rock my cornrows. Instead of the straight back look! But I think its the make-up and the bustier that can let her get away with it. She looks cute!

I actually like them too, they look very clean. It also shows up her face more, she's a beautiful girl.

I don't like that Leroy looking(think Fame the movie) hairstyle. It doesn't look good at all.

I disagree with you Bella. These braids are not hitting it! There are more stylish, feminine ways to wear cornrows, and this is not it. Something is off here. Not only that, but I think this is a look that is best worn with a laid back, summery outfit. Like a cute maxi sundress, for example. Not some sexed up, suede bustier. Her makeup is great though!

I can't say I am a real fan of hers. The cornrows look nice but I am sure she will change up soon.

She looks positively radiant! I was never Ciara's biggest fan (her vocals just aren't strong enough for my liking) but I do prefer the "original" crunk & B princess to this Super-C.

I like the cornrow look, but I think these are a bit too wide. But it's funny, I had planned on braiding my hair in this style for this upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Cornrows rock in the summer!

I am not a fan of the corn rows on her. I think they look nice, but it's just not doing it for me :). I am def loving her new fashion direction (perfect example: the jumper she wore out to lunch with kim kardash)

Hey Bella! *waving* it's been a while... I am a fan of both Ciara and of cornrows, and yet... something about the way they're done isn't quite working. She looks like Tommy Davidson, and that's not a compliment. Maybe if they were smaller, or flatter to her head, or something. If I could find someone to do them who didn't make me cry, I would.

Yes, I am happy to see a more innocent Ciara because the video with JT was not appropriate to show to my kids. They became fans of hers when was keeping the goodies in the jar.

People are so hard on each other. No wonder why stars feel the need to see plastic surgeons on a regular and in turn everyday people feel the need too. As the ladies mentioned above, cornrolls never went out of style & she looks great! It doesn't matter if they could've be beter... She looks fabulous as usual.
