First, let me say I also think Measha is super talented and very beautiful. I’m sure all of you long-time Afrobell readers noticed Measha has lost quite a bit of weight. As much I admire her I was very disappointed to read in the Canadian press that she pulled a “Star Jones”. Initially she told the press her weight loss was from taking up yoga. Months later she finally admitted that in addition to her yoga regimen she also had gastric bypass surgery. There is NO SHAME in having weight loss surgery! I don’t why women feel the need to lie about how they lost weight. I am plus size and though I don’t know if surgery is for me, I would certainly find it inspirational to hear the truth the FIRST time. Measha is gorgeous at ANY size, but I just brought this up for some good discussion. Weight is definitely a touchy topic for most women.

Her voice was beatiful and her hair was beautiful and AWESOME!!! I’m glad to see this post. Many of my friends were not as excited as I was, glad to see the excitement here.

I knew she looked familiar then I remembered that you featured her here on Afrobella! She looked like a GODDESS and sounded like an ANGEL! I don’t give much thought to looking like someone other than myself, but if I did, she would go to the top of the list!

I was hoping you would post about her performance. Thank you! OMG! She was amazing!Did you notice Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada? I actually had tears seeing two elegant black women wear their hair natural before a global audience. I felt liberated and empowered.
