“Be your best self”

Not your lazy, half-hearted, or scared self, but the BEST.

I work in the education field and was nervous that my colleagues, students, or their parents would take issue with my hair. But that has not been the case.

The kids may ask questions, or tell me how “different” I look today (if I straighten it or wear a pony-tail), but people have been cool.

Carolyn was right about accepting our own hair and beauty being of foremost importance.

Many of my transitioning girlfriends find it unprofessional to mane-tain natural locks in the workplace. Therefore, the flatiron is never far behind and always handy on humid summer days. I’m hoping your interview with Carolyn Edgar will help those sistahs embrace every curly, kinky, wavy strand of their natural born locks!
