I’m gonna be honest as always, bellas – I used to be a part of many hair shows and parties, and in the course of that I started seeing a lot of redundancy. I’ve been honored to be a part of some of the very best in natural hair events, but I’ve also attended many which can best be described as well meaning but repetitive. It should be about more than just samples, selfies and celebrities, right? Where’s the community? Where’s the education? What about kicking it up a notch to give people something more memorable and meaningful?
I try to involve myself in events that are unique and that will resonate far beyond the awesome gift bag of products to discover. That’s why I’m genuinely excited to participate in the first ever Ubiquitous Hair and Health Show. August 23rd – 24th, we’re taking over Washington DC for two days of information, entertainment, and inclusion!
Ubiquitous aims to be a hair and beauty event with a difference because it isn’t about one particular hair texture. This is about health, inside and out. It’s an event where women with relaxed hair can get the education and products they need, women with natural hair can get the education and products they need, and if anyone is interested in transitioning they’re in the right place. It is about the range of our beauty, embracing our beauty in whatever form makes us fulfilled and comfortable, and learning from each other about the possibilities that exist. There will be workshops, presentations, performances and yes – killer goodie bags.
The event is the brainchild of Germaine Bolds-Leftridge, founder and president of GBL Sales. Germaine is immensely knowledgeable about the hair industry and specifically wants to address what the game is currently missing. “The Ubiquitous Hair & Health Trade Show will not be your everyday trade show…it is a movement. A movement that will encourage women to leave their “unique imprint” wherever they go. We want our guests to leave this show with their inner beauty shining brighter that their outer beauty,” she explained.
