I heard from so many readers who had no idea that Aveda catered to our hair’s particular needs, and so many who had been skeptical that Aveda could do black, natural hair right. I’ve even heard from some of you who subsequently made Aveda appointments of your own – some of you were surprised and delighted, others not so much. HOWEVER – I’m happy to let you know that Aveda is doing everything it can to cater to us. And their efforts begin anew this week with a model call in NYC!

So if you’re reading this, and you live in the Tristate area and you want to get your hair done, Aveda style…this model call could be PERFECT for you!

Here’s the model call info from my amigos at Aveda:

Needed: Black/Ethnic models with all hair types for a test of professional salon brands of shampoo, conditioners/treatments and styling products on January 24th in New York City. There is particular interest to insure that we have a good representation of hair of African descent – both chemically treated and virgin (no weaves, wigs, braids or dreads). Professional stylists’ will be assessing the performance and appropriateness of the products for black/ethnic hair.

Here are the details to participate:

An open model call will be held on Friday, January 21 from 5-7 and Saturday, January 22 from 10-12 at the Aveda Advanced Academy (20 Vandam Street New York, NY 10013). Model hair will be assessed for acceptability for the test. It should only take a few minutes.

If selected, models need to be available for a 2 hour block of time on Monday, January 24th. Available time blocks are 9am – 11am; 11am – 1pm or 2pm – 4pm.

At that time your hair will be shampooed, conditioned/treated and styled by a professional hair stylist. There will be no hair cutting, chemical service or coloring as part of this test.

Models selected to participate on January 24th will receive a goodie bag of Bumble and Bumble, Aveda and Ojon products for their time valued at $300.

If you have any additional questions, please e mail tminette@aveda.com.

If that sounds up your alley, go forth and audition! Please keep me posted on your experience. Good luck!
