Products With Purpose — Moroccan Elixir Pure Argan Oil

by afrobella

Some brands donate proceeds for a day, others do it for a whole month. And some brands are based completely on charitable donation and through their purchase, we the consumer can support an important cause in an ongoing way. That’s what this new category is all about. Every month I’ll be featuring Products With Purpose, beauty, fashion, food and lifestyle brands that dedicate themselves to supporting important charitable causes, so your hard-earned money can go to good causes while you buy cool things!

First up, Moroccan Elixir, an argan oil brand that prides itself on purity and supporting women.

Brand Name — Moroccan Elixir

Social Media — Check them out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

What Kind of Products Are These? —  “Moroccan Elixir oil is 100% pure argan oil, with nothing added to the oil except essential oils, chosen for their medicinal and beauty benefits. While other beauty products profess to have argan oil as an ingredient, often it is just a tiny drop of it, a synthetic version of it, or argan oil that has been produced by chemical extraction methods. Moroccan Elixir oil does not approve of any of these formulations. Moroccan Elixir oil uses only the highest quality, organic essential oils as fragrance for their products, and each one is custom blended with no additives.”

How Do They Benefit Others? — “Moroccan Elixir is a line of 100% pure argan oil products that supports the livelihood of women by creating jobs for them. Moroccan Elixir is handmade in Morocco by Marjana, a women owned co-op. This co-op has formed their own micro-economy, providing countless Moroccan women with the opportunity to work and thrive.”

Tell Us More! — The Moroccan Elixir buys its Argan Oil from The Marjana Co-Operative Project near Essaouira. It is a  Co-Operative that owned by more than 80 women. The Marjana Co-Operative employs only the Traditional Methods of Argan oil and uses no machinery. The Co-Operative is in the middle of a forest of Argan and Thuja trees. If you visit Morocco, you may stop at the Co-Operative on the road between Marrakesh and Essaouira. Here you will get a glimpse into the traditional life of Berber women.   The women are joyful and determined to present quality products for the opportunities they have been given.

Ahmed Jeriouda, founder and president of Moroccan Elixir: “Morocco is a country rich in culture and tradition.   It has an exotic appeal to travelers from all over the world.   Yet, what one doesn’t see on a holiday in Morocco is the real struggle that people have in daily life for basic things such as education, food and health care.  I grew up in Morocco and always had the dream to one day be successful enough to give back to my country.

So, I decided to found a company that imported Argan Oil from the Women’s Co-Operatives in Morocco.   In this enterprise, I have been able to provide the American beauty consumers with an amazing product that has a rich tradition in Morocco and at the same time to support the Co-Operatives that are helping Moroccan women to be successful and self sufficient.

The Marjana Co-Operative is an inspirational place to visit. The women have created a community for themselves. They are working together in a production room and sit together in a circle. As they work they share stories, laugh, sing and take breaks for dancing. They eat lunch together every day. The women do not compete with each other. They all are owners of the Co-Op and what they put in is what they get out of it. Beyond the financial gains and the down stream affects of that, the Co-Operative is a community of women who enjoy socializing and engaging in the local cultural traditions.”

Afrobella’s Review — I was sent Moroccan Elixir’s products and I really like everything I’ve tried so far. I love argan oil for my skin, hair and scalp and their products are giving me exactly what I need. The Revitalize tonic includes rosemary, cypress, sage and lavender and smells like the spa. My scalp and edges love it! I also like using the Ageless Face Serum, which is scented with Moroccan rose, palmrosa and sandalwood — the fragrance is intoxicating and my skin drinks this stuff up, especially in these chilly winter months. If you’re looking to try the brand, these are two great first products to try.

So glad I visited Afrobella today. I have been a long-time reader, but have not been on the page consistently like I used to be. This is a great new spotlight idea: Products with a purpose. Plus, I will be needing some Argan Oil soon. I will support this company. Thanks Afrobella!

I tried essential oils from Basilica Botanica and I love them! I’m an avid user but once I found these oils I have not switched brands ever since. Trust me on this one. I got mine via Amazon Prime, so convenient!
