So I’m leaving for the wedding in seven minutes, and I totally had delusions of managing to post something coherent before I left, complete with photos and a video. Silly, silly me. For now, all I can do is offer a teaser for the post I was working on, one of those 8-things-you-know-about-me tags. So here’s a totally random fact and a farewell for the next couple of days.

I love Kid N’ Play. I’ve seen all of Kid N’ Play’s movies. House Party was my favorite movie, at one time in my life. When I was like, thirteen, they came to Trinidad and hosted the premiere of House Party 3 at a theater that was then called Deluxe (which is now internationally infamous nightclub Zen — I can’t believe Akon gave it a shout out in that apology song). I remember looking down on that giant high top fade from the balcony. Of course, I was too shy to push my way through the crowd and try to meet them. Good grief, this is so dorky I can’t believe I’m even writing it.

Now Kid is and makes intelligent appearances on Bill Maher’s show. And Play is teaching hip hop history at North Carolina Central University. Interesting and random and a great note to say adios on. Here’s my favorite Kid N Play video ever. I miss when hip hop was this silly and innocent.

And I’m out! Catch y’all next Wednesday!

I used to love doing the Kid N' Play dances and watching their movies. Fortunately, I am also in love with the fact that they never attempted a comeback. That would be so unnecessary.

Ahh... when hip-hop was young and fairly innocent. I still reminisce about the little party we had in elementary school where I first heard "Rapper's Delight."

I can not believe that play is teaching at an University. I think this is good for hip hop and it contrasts greatly with what we currently see on BET all day every day.

i love kid n' play because they made house party, one of the best movies EVER. i can still sit and watch the movie and laugh like i'm seeing it for the first time. what i like about that movie and house party 2, is that it potrayed regular african-american middle class teenagers, which was a far departure from the one-note "menace to society", self-destructive thug imagery out there. these were kids who were in school, just wanted to have fun, with parents that were present and involved in their lives. it was (and still is) nice to see black teens, particularly young black men, depicted in a positive way.

I. Love. Kid N Play. I had the biggest crush on Play. I thought he was super smooth. House Party I was the best and I love seeing the other cast members before they were considered "stars". Martin as Bilal with the stank breath? Hilarious. Thanks for this throwback Bella!

I forgot to say I love "Class Act" too! When Play says, "I got people to do and things to see", I die of laughter.

Hey! I'm in Vegas, and I realize I left out a big ol' chuck of Kid information. He's hosted several television shows and also wrote the theme song for Bill Maher. I find it very interesting to see what rappers do when it's time to lay down the mic and grow up for real. Lots and lots of beauty posts when I return, bellas! Ive got giveaways planned for the anniversary week, too. Miss you all and have a great week!

Love some Kid N Play. I remember going to see Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation concert in San Diego and they were in the audiance. People were running up to them taking pictures. You could see Kid's high top fade all the way across the arena. I'm going to have to rent House Party this weekend and introduce Kid N Play to my daughter. says:
