Avon Pro 3-in-1 Lip Wand Giveaway!

by afrobella

Everyone loves lip gloss, and lipstick’s been having quite the resurgence in this craptastic economy. But the real tip for making your lip look last?

Layering.

I’m so late to the lip pencil party, but now that I’m here I’m ALL about it. Lip crayons are great n’ all, but I’m finding that if I want a finish that doesn’t bleed and won’t quit, thin lip pencils are best.

But what if you can’t choose, and don’t want to splurge on all three kinds of lip color items?

β€œAvon

AVON to the rescue!

The brand that’s brought you an infinite variety of beauty essentials has a unique and awesome lippie that covers all your bases. With the Avon 3-in-1 Lip Wand, there’s a little lip pencil, a moisture rich and luxe lipstick, and a glossy, gorgeous lip gloss all in one slim stick.

If you’re going somewhere and need to make your makeup last all day, this little guy is your best friend.

Here’s how I work the lip wand:

Step 1 – Prep. That means I exfoliate and moisturize. I have dry, peeling lips so I need to scrub them softly, and keep them well protected. A toothbrush works great but can be harsh. I use a little sugar and coconut oil, or as Bare Budget Beauty recommends, honey and sugar. For even more lip lovin’, I moisturize with one of the kajillion lip balms I keep on hand. My latest faves are the Evolution of Smooth lip sphere which is cute and 95% organic to boot, and Dr. Kiss, which is moist, slightly tingly, delicious, and gives a slight blush of color. The point here is to slightly moisturize, but not slather on anything heavy. Just a dab will do.

Step 2 — Outline! Using the pointed end of my lip pencil, carefully I outline my lips. Then using the side of the pencil, I shade in the rest of my lips. Lip pencil can feel dry and show up flaky lips if you don’t do step 1, so be forewarned.

Step 3 – Depends. If I’m going someplace regular, I might blend with the gloss and be out. If I’m going someplace chic that requires glamour, I use lipstick over my pencil to lock in the look. And if I’m feeling extra extra over the top fabulicious, I use all three. Pencil, then lipstick, then gloss. Is it too much? I don’t think so! More more more, how do you like it?

I’m loving the Avon 3-in-1. My only, ONLY complaint is I wish it came in more colors. But this thing is $9.50 and it compares to department store brand lippies I’ve tried, so my complaints are silenced by my natural inclination for value.

I promised I’d end this week with a giveaway, and here it is! 10 lucky Afrobella readers will score an Avon 3-in-1 pencil of their very own.

All you need to do is comment below, and tell me your favorite lip item. Pencil, stick, or gloss? And why?

I’ll keep this open over the weekend, and choose 10 winners by Tuesday. So comment away, bellas. August isn’t over yet, and for bloggerversary month I’m gonna keep the giveaways coming fast and furious!

My favorite lip item is plain ole vaseline. I know, so 1970’s. I like it because it keeps my lips from chapping and is slick and shiny. As a little girl – when the practice started. This was the only acceptable lip wear and I often pretended it was “big girl lip gloss”. Plus, vaseline is cheap and doesn’t get that funky wand thing.

I need to grow up. I need grown woman lip gloss. Please help me.

Avon is getting better and better. They have good quality stuff at very affordable prices. I will look out for this product as I have used their lipsticks and found them to be creamy and moisturising with a wide range of colours.

I love lipgloss. I don’t wear much makeup living in Kenya because of the heat,so lipgloss gives me that ‘made up’ look with very little effort.

My favorite is gloss because I like the sheer look.
    Thanks a lot!

I’m a gloss girl! I like the ease of it and the fact that when the color fades, it fades. I’m not left with strange bits of color on my lips. When I’m really getting glammed up I wear lipstick and lipgloss, but 95% of the time – straight gloss it is.

My favorite lip item is LIPGLOSS! I like it b/c I don’t care for lip color much, and I can rock it with anything!

I like the lip stains for the hint of color it gives. I can wear it alone, with lip balm and still have color or gloss to make it pop.

I really appreciate lip pencils for their color staying power. It really does last all day, but looks overly matte after a while, that’s where a lip gloss comes in to supplement. So, this 3-in-1 is a really great concept. Go Avon!

I’m a lipgloss addict!! Every color and flavor! It’s so much simpler than lipstick or pencil and quicker,t oo.

Hey bella! Well my favorite part is gloss. I love to see a nice sheen (not to high though!) on my lips & it makes me look & feel great! I’m loving Avon’s 3-in-1 concept, very cool.

I like lipstains the best. They just add a touch of color to enhance my natural lip color.

I’m a full time student, part time teacher, and 24/7 sister/daughter/granddaughter/cousin to my extended family abroad. I’m up at odd hours, working late, and frequently struggling to “transition” from one thing to the next. Usually I just slap on a little lip gloss- I feel like its the most error-proof product. But that 3-in-1 looks awesome.

I like lipglosses, for the shine and sparkles, and they are not as drying as some of the lipsticks

I just recently returned to the gloss/pencil combo after years of doing lipstick/pencil (or sometimes lipstick/pencil/gloss). What actually prompted the switch was Afrobella’s post about Lancome’s Piha Black lipgloss. My mom had a tube of Black Elegance’s lipgloss in Mocha Madness (not quite black, but a gorgeous dark brown) that she didn’t want. I tried it and haven’t looked back since.

I like how gloss wears a bit more evenly, and blends with my pencil a little better (and quicker), giving me a quick and easy solution to sexy, well shaded lips!

  15. dee

    at

Definitely gloss. It doesn’t leave that ring around the mouth when it fades, it’s not drying and it just adds that BAM to your mouth.

As of late, I’ve been carrying around an oversized co-co butter stick in my purse! Yes, this is slightly embarrassing, but it really keeps my lips soft and provides a nice sheen. I’m a college student in Washington, D.C., and right now buying nicer products is not an option for me! I would love to win the Avon Pro 3 in 1. Thank you : )

I used to just only wear lipstick, especially when I was younger and just getting started wearing makeup. But now I am really getting into gloss more. Most days I just wear a colored lipgloss and call it a day. But sometimes I just love to work a deep wine or red and you really need smooth lips and a good lip liner to keep the color from bleeding.

  18. Izzo

    at

I a gloss girl. Very pigmented or sheer, I love it. I’m getting into lipstains too. I’ve tred ones from Revlon and Urban Decay.

Avon has some really awesome products. I need to try more of them out.

My absolute must have is lipliner. I’ve worn it ever since I started wearing lipstick in HS and have even been know to skip the lipstick and gloss and just wear liner. Its a must in my book especially to prevent bleeding, make a shade last all day and it adds definition to lips whick IMO are just as important as brows in terms of a finished look.

Oooh yes! Avon! I remember playing/making school projects with the Avon boxes my mom received when she sold product. I should look into the 3-in-1.

My fave product (right now) is Avolon Organics Vitamin C lip balm. (This places me in the gloss category, I guess!) This stuff is so good and doesn’t dry my lips out later. No sticky residue, just lip-calming goodness. Take a look @ the ingredients and you’ll believe me. http://avalonorganics.com/?id=86&pcid=10&pid=271 (ingredient list on far right of the page)

Thanks, ‘Bella, for the heads’ up! πŸ™‚

My go-to item is lip pencil because without it, unless it’s an all day formula (DRYING!) lip-ANYTHING won’t stay on. Plus, in a lip matching shade, it goes with EVERYTHING. Natural looking lip definition and all around lifesaver!

  22. b.

    at

    Oh yeah…

I like gloss because it gives my face just the right hint of “girly” aura without too much thought. It also sets a much-needed foundation for any other lip action. Nay-to-no for chapped lipstick lips.

  23. S. Carvalho

    at

I love lipgloss but my favorite item is probably my Rimmel 1000 Kisses liner in Wild Clover. I have pigmented lips that get darker near the edges and this is a perfect match to even it all out. Swipe it on, blend a bit, it lasts all day and I can just reapply whatever gloss I have in my purse.

  24. petitepowerhouse

Lip gloss all the way! it gives that extra kick without looking too made up, for both day and night!

  25. Christine

    at

I’m a fan of Avon’s eyeliner pencil personally. I will say that I generally use a gloss during the day or going out for ease of use.

Would love to try the Lip Wand though. Hope your weekend is a great one!

my must-have is gloss. specifically avon’s glazeware. i wear a variety of shades, but the stand-by is “nude attitude.” it’s got just a hint of pink tint and blends well with any pencil and over any stick.

  27. crosswoodfield

i love stila lipgloss for a dinner or a party
but lip pencils do stay on sooooo much better and sometimes the matte look is nice πŸ™‚

My favorite is NARS lipstick in funny face. without fail people always love it, and envy me for having the cajones to pull off such a dramatic fuschia. and its got great staying power

    look at all these comments!

I love a lip gloss, you can put it over a lip stick or rock it alone. Its fast its shiney its great!

A lip gloss is an absolute must for me. They provide so many options from a clear high sheen glaze to one with tons of color. In fact I just cleaned out my (extra large) purse while at work today and discovered I had 4 LIP GLOSS TUBES in one purse. One clear, a light brown nude shade, a hot pink variation and one that is red! Let’s just say I love lip gloss!

  31. Krys

Another co-signer for pampering your lips! I just recently discovered the amazingness that is lip exfoliation and I can’t believe I went my whole adolescence (and half of my 20’s) without doing it. It’s absolutely without a doubt the number one reason I fell in love with lipgloss/stick. Before then I could never find a color that looked good/even on my lips that would stay put, but now it’s no problem.

Currently I’m all about Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. It’s the perfect combination of flattering color, just the right amount of shine, and moisture. Plus, it’s buildable so you control how sheer or deep the tone. Clinique usually gets the side eye from me, but this product I love. Besides that, though, I’m all about a gloss. It’s just so simple and flattering.

I am a lover of lip pencils. A makeup artist for my wedding hipped me to the wonder and versality of lip pencils. You can line AND fill in your lips and bam! long lasting lip color. Or, you can line, and then fill with lipstick, gloss or both. You can create your own colored gloss by lining with a pencil and adding sheer gloss. How great is that?

  33. Kat

My favorite is gloss…even when I’m going out somewhere special, I still rock gloss, maybe with a liner underneath.

    hello from croatia!!!
    thanks for the lovely giveaway!
what i like the most are illamasqua lip pencils, they are absolutley divine! i also adore the illamasqua lipgloss in “soul”. it’s such a flattering pinky metallic shade. go check illamasqua because they have the most awesome lipsticks and lipglosses.
i sometimes use simple labello for everyday lip care πŸ™‚
    kind regards

My very first make-up product is still my favorite – GLOSS! I dread the day when I’m too old for shiny lips. BTW, Afrobella, if you have any pull with L’Oreal, please have them bring their original pot glosses back. Anyone else miss Aubergine, Tropique and Seafleur?

Hey Bella.. I love love love makeup. I’m a student artist so i am not scared to get versatile and try different brands and products. What’s the fun of sticking with just one line, when there are soooo many out there that are fabulous!

My favorite right now is OCC (obsessive compulsive cosmetics) Lip Tar. It comes in some truly unique colors, everything from traditional reds, pinks, plums.. to wild and funky blues, green, yellow, and even black. The black looks sumptuous and so edgy and funky.

It’s pigment heavy so the colors really POP. and it’s also vegan and cruelty free, so no animals were harmed in the process of production.

OCC’s funky gloss a great way to express yourself, enhance your naturally beautiful diva-lips, and have a glam-fab day with minimal effort (for those who don’t wear lots of product daily) love it!

I don’t wear makeup like I should, but I will always put something on my lips. The one product I get comments on, even from strangers!, is a Revlon lipstick in Toast of New York. I buy 2 tubes at a time and have it in my purse, desk and bathroom! I constantly experiment with other products and colors, but this is the one product that seems to be me in a tube. I wish the pinks, the gloss or stains could get the notice, but they don’t seem to compare.

I must have a pencil in my daily makeup regimen! While I do usually include a gloss or lipstick, I’ve found the pencil gives better definition to my less than plump lips as well as makes the gloss or lipstick last longer. A pencil and clear lipbalm really can do the trick for a natural lip.

  43. Michelle

I LOVE LOVE LOVE lip gloss…I’ve just recently discovered using lip liner with gloss. Gloss just gives the right pop to my look.

  44. Amber

I am a gloss girl all the way!!! It took me years to embrace my beautiful full lips and realize that I had what the world pays for. So throwing on some gloss, looking in the mirror and blowing myself a kiss is what gets me out the door! πŸ˜‰

  45. auragirl

GLOSS! I love lip gloss because it’s so incredibly versatile. It’s the perfect product to wear from being casual and makeup-less to being all dolled up and going out on the town to the office. Gloss never fails! πŸ™‚

I have a serious love for castor oil on my lips. For years, I’ve been a huge fan of the shiny moist look offered by gloss, but lately I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect blue-red matte lipstick… think Sade in almost all of her 80s videos. I’ve yet to find something that’s not to pink or orange or brick. And it can’t be too bright either. If anyone has ideas for the best red, I’d love to get your tips.

I love lip gloss. I remember when my mom let me upgrade from chap stick. I thought I was the stuff! And I still keep it with me at all times. There is just something special about the look you get from lip gloss. However I am have had a lipstick or two to catch my attention for a while. Well its my first time to comment so maybe I will get lucky and win!

I love lipgloss. I remember when I started to wearing makeup in the 8th grade. I went to school everyday with lipgloss and clear mascara. Brings back memories.

  49. KimberlyKeyosha

My favorite lip item would have to be lip gloss. I have never been one really into makeup. Because I am of a darker skin tone, many of the colors (light pinks, light browns) don’t like that well on my complexion. I like good ol’ fashioned lip gloss. It shines the original natural color of my lips, and makes me look marvelous.

  50. Hannah

    at

I love stain. It’s the forget-it-and-go aspect that appeals to me, and you can use lipgloss over it without making the color disappear. As far as what looks best, can’t beat lip balm for keeping me flake free and soft!

  51. Angelique

    at

Lately I have been loving Burt’s Beewax with whatever lipgloss I have on top. It makes my gloss pop and last longer plus the peppermint oil in the Burt’s is so tingly and soothing.

  52. Angelique

oh wait I forgot about my Bobby Brown gloss… Love that stuff too. Its a great splurge and also has honey in it which as so many other benefits than the flawless gloss action.

I like lip gloss because it’s effortless and adds moisture.

  54. Eve

my favorite lip item is lip gloss. I am not much of a lipstick or lip pencil user, I think lip gloss moisturizes better than either of those, and I have very dry lips. My favorite is covergirl wetslicks.

  55. April

    at

I like gloss. Right now, I am loving Cover Girl wetslicks.

  56. dgh

I like lip gloss best. It’s sure to keep my lips from feeling dry. My mother, on the other hand, has a very different opinion. The first time she saw me wearing lip gloss, she said, “You look like you’ve just eaten a piece of friend chicken.” Twenty years later, gloss is still my fave!

  57. dgh

    at

    Oops. That’s “fried chicken.”

  58. BelleNoelle

    PICK ME! PICK ME!
My favorite lip pencils are currant and chestnut from MAC. I usually can wear either pencil with pretty much everything. While currant does tend to bleed a little, when I put it on dry and shade in for color, it is a perfect compliment!

  60. Reese

    at

My fav lip gloss right now is Victoria’s Secret Lip Gloss. Its $7.00 a tube, and its smells heavenly! It goes on smooth. I have it in pink, nude, and red. I wear them ALL the time.

  61. Leisa P

I favor the CO Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint from Bath & Body Works. It’s not sticky, it tastes like mint and it comes in subtle shads. I like playing up my eyes so it’s nice to have a subtle shine on the mouth without distracting from the eyes. Thanks, love the site!

  62. Johanna

    at

I love Clinique’s Black Honey color in both the Almost Lipstick and Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss formulations. Black Honey is a sheer dark berry color that looks great against my caramel complexion. The Almost Lipstick is moisturizing and very easy to wear, while the Superbalm is super-shiny and leaves a nice sheer berry tint.

  63. Kris

    at

Personally, I love gloss. I prefer to go with a natural look on a day to day basis & gloss is the best thing for that. When I do want a little more of glam look, I go for pencil all over my lips and then cover it with lipstick/gloss. When I use that method it seems to last for hours.

  64. Lynette

    at

My lips are my best feature, so I am always playing up my pout. Lip pencil, lip gloss, liptick, I love it all. Favorite gloss–toss up between Mac Languish and Nars Cabiria. Favorite lipstick, Vasanti’s India. Favorite lip liner is good old Wet N Wild’s 666.

And what’s up with the fall issues of my favorite magazines that are saying that “gloss is over”? Not a chance.

  65. Nicole J. Butler

I love a good, bold, matte lipstick. It screams “drama” and I think it’s a good idea to keep my drama onstage, onscreen, and on my lips. ;o)
