My Monday Manicure — Hard Candy Sweet P

Here’s a new weekly feature that I hope you enjoy! I love reading manicure blogs like my friends of All Lacquered Up, Clumps of Mascara, 52 Flavors, KarlaSugar, Seouldiva and Vampy Varnish. Unlike those bloggers, I’m not an expert at-home manicurist, or a regular manicure-recipient. In fact, my nails are often um…shall we say, textured? I struggle to maintain a mani, and my polish is usually chipped. But I’m trying to step my nail game up a bit, and I’m gonna share my weekly nail colors with you!

Hard Candy Sweet P

This super glittery chartreuse nail polish is Sweet P by Hard Candy.

Last week I got the opportunity to review some Hard Candy products, and can I just confess that the products are giving me all kinds of pleasant surprises. I’d kind of thought of Hard Candy as a brand I loved as a glitter-obsessed teen. But the brand has lasting quality for the adult in me (who still loves her share of glitter!) Reviews of their makeup to come. This post is all about the polish!

Sweet P is a bright acid green, not for the faint of heart and definitely not for those who are conservative in style. These are nails that are meant to be noticed! If you’re fine with that, you’ll probably love Sweet P.

The first coat of Sweet P goes on kind of sparse, but the second coat makes for a dense, all over sparkle – glitter with texture. I’ve been getting teeny little threads caught on my nails because of that, but I don’t even care. I absolutely love this color with my skin tone!

Hard Candy nail polishes cost $5 a pop at Walmart, and judging from the quality of Sweet P, I need to go get some more. The purple glitter colors — Hot Pants and Mr. Wrong — are calling my name!

What are your thoughts, bellas? Would you rock a polish this glittery, or are these kinds of colors best left for your younger years? What are your go-to polish colors?

I would sooooooo rock that color! I love bright, “I’m here!” colors! It’s only 5 bucks? I’ll have to check out the Wal-Marts here in town and see if they have that color. Doesn’t hurt that it’s got my nickname either, lol…

After reading your review I feel the need to check Hard Candy out! Personally not a fan of glitter but love pinks & purples for my toes…

I’d wear it on vacation, but as an attorney, I doubt the color would fly in my depositions. But as a “youngish” attorney, I’m usually trying to be taken more than less seriously. One of my faves is Black Russian from Rescue Beauty Lounge (not cheap!) but I wore it on my toes at my wedding, so I could make up for the splurge price. It’s an awesome black with red glitter. http://www.scrangie.com/2008/05/rescue-beauty-lounge-and-lippmann.html And I will and do wear this one with short nails to work. It’s my stick-it-to-the-manitis.

ooooh that colour looks gorgeous on you!! i’m kind of boring when it comes to manicures (i usually don’t venture outside of a deep red or a pale pink) but with spring (hopefully) around the corner, i’m liking the idea of trying a brighter shade (maybe a turquoise…). i’ll definitely be checking out the hard candy line.

That color is cute but I can’t do glitter. It just reminds me of teeny boppers.
I tend to do my own mani’s at home. I have soft nails that constantly break and peel so I tend to stick to neutral colors like Starter Wife by Essie. I did try Here today, Aragon tomorrow by OPI and fell in love.

That is a very strange colour indeed. You really have to be able to pull it off. I am a sucker for blacks, purples, metallic reds and light pinks. It is true that experimenting might be a good idea.. The most out-there I ever tried was electric blue and metallic copper. Not much for the glitter either. Anyone heard of china glaze in the US?

Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and everything. But think about if you added some great visuals or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and clips, this website could definitely be one of the very best in its niche. Good blog!
