2010 was quite a rollercoaster, and I can’t say I’m sad to see it end. But it’s crazy to think that this isn’t just the end of a year, it’s the end of a decade. Wow! This past decade has been so extremely eventful. I’ve changed and grown SO much! Here’s to a bright new year, and a new decade filled with promise and possibility.
I don’t know what’s happening wherever you are around the world, hopefully you’re celebrating with family, friends and fireworks! Here in Chicago, I’m having a romantic dinner and champagne cocktails with my husband. Our celebration will be quiet. But in my heart, there’ll be music – a very specific song, in fact.
In Trinidad, the annual party at my parents’ house is underway. Our family and many of our dearest friends are gathered. And at the stroke of midnight my dad will make sure the DJ plays this song by legendary calypsonian The Baron.
Makes me more than a little homesick, but also makes me feel warm, fuzzy, happy and festive. Hope it does the same for you!
