I love MAC cosmetics and I especially love their Viva Glam initiative.
By pairing up daring and outspoken celebrities with the brand’s initiative of raising awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS, MAC has created a campaign that never fails to inform, inspire and excite. Lady Gaga is THE perfect celebrity to be the face of Viva Glam. Her fan base is passionate, vocal, involved – and Lady Gaga is committed to raising awareness for causes that many would often rather sweep under the rug. So the creation of MAC’s Viva Glam 2 was a no brainer.
My only issue…the color.
Am I the only one who is less-than-excited by the actual colors of MAC’s Viva Glam lippies of late? Lady Gaga 1 was an uber pale pink, and now this is a pinkish beige.
I want to support the cause, but it can be challenging figuring out how to actually ~wear~ this new Viva Glam 2. In order to hopefully eliminate some consumer confusion, here’s a video of me rocking MAC’s Lady Gaga Viva Glam 2 lippies in four different ways. Spoiler alert, #3 might be my favorite!
In summary, a lip pencil in your skintone makes EVERYTHING better. In this video I used Three Custom Color Lip Liner in Warm Brown, but I got quite a few recommendations for MAC’s Chestnut, and I also gotta say NYX has an outstanding array of darker brown lip pencils that last and make me really happy.
Still not convinced? Click to see how Miss Whoever You Are and Dana Oliver of Stylelist also made Lady Gaga’s lippies work on their lovely brown skin!

I loooooove it. I love it so much that I will probably try to kiss you when you wear it, just so I wear it, too. Sorry that is minorly creepy, but it is the truth.

Try Chestnut lip liner with the lipstick and gloss or Nightmoth lip liner if you want more of a berry lip.. Its fabulous. Love your combinations tho!

I just got this tonight! At first when the makeup artist suggested it, I thought no way. You’re so right, though. Lip liner makes all the difference!

Interesting but how do you use the pencil… to underline the lower lip only or both lips? Or do you cover your whole lips wuth the pencil?
