5 Awesomely Cute & Affordable Winter Boots

by afrobella

I’ve come to the conclusion that you can’t be good at everything. I think I have a decent wardrobe and a pretty sweet jewelry collection. My makeup game is on a whole nother level. So what’s my fashion Achilles heel? Shoes. My shoe game is atrocious and shameful. I can never find a cute pair of shoes to wear, but I can always make up for it with big earrings, big hair, and bold makeup.

When it comes to shoe shopping, oftentimes I feel lost. Flat footed. Adrift in an ocean of heel heights and calf widths, not knowing where to turn. That’s when I turn to my Chicago bestie, Luvvie. You might already know her as the humor blogger of AwesomelyLuvvie.com or the co-founder of The Red Pump Project; the creator of DumbestTweets.com or the web designer extraordinaire who creates websites like the one you’re reading right now. Besides doing and being all of those things, Luvvie is also something of a shoe legend. When asked about this she responded, “I don’t know much ’bout science books or geography, but I do know shoes.” Hence her other blog, MustLuvvShoes.com. How many blogs can one person have? I thought I knew. And then I met Luvvie.

Even though she is ridiculously busy for obvious reasons, I’ve convinced her to write a monthly shoe post over here on Afrobella.com. Because I need shoe advice, and she’s shoe obsessed, this is a win win for us and for you bellas! If you have a shoe question or need advice on appropriate footwear for an event, leave a comment here or visit her MustLuvvShoes.com blog. This month, Luvvie’s here to advise us on getting our boot situation together for winter. Take it away, Luvvie!

Wintertime is approaching, and when you live in a city like Chicago, it’s essential that you’re prepared for the elements. And not just prepared. I also think it’s really important to maintain some level of cute while being warm. This is doable, even on a budget. Here are my top 5 picks of awesomely cute AND affordable winter boots!

1. Sorel’s Sorelia Earhart™ Shearling

Sorel Earhart boots

I really like the brand Sorel and their winter boots. They’re usually very cute and very warm. This particular pair is leather (necessary if you’ll be trudging in snow. Have you ever stepped in snow in non-leather boots? That feeling of wet socks is the worst!) and shearling. The inside is lined with faux fur for extra warmth. Tuck your skinny jeans or leggings into these boots and take on the elements.

They’re $300, but for this quality of boots, they’re well worth it. These should last a couple of winters so you’ll get your money’s worth. Buy them on Sorel’s website.

2. Storm by Cougar Sienna Rain Boot

Storm Boots

These are rain boots, so they’re waterproof. You can trudge in snow all you want and your socks will remain dry. And because they’re quilted, they’ll offer great warmth for the winter. And at $89.95, they’re a pretty good deal. You can remain warm and stylish, without breaking the bank. These are available at DSW.

3. The North Face Sveltelana

NorthFace Sveltelana

As most folks know, North Face is THE brand for cold weather accessories and apparel so they really don’t disappoint in what they offer. Put on a North Face jacket that’s thick enough and see if you don’t sweat in the dead of winter. In a harsh winter like the one that is being predicted for us this year, this will come in handy.

These boots are cute and add a spin to the typical winter boots with these black panels. Plus they’re shiny. The inside of the boots have faux fur as well as NorthFace’s PrimaLoft® Eco insulation. Your toes will be nice and toasty in these. They’re $170, so they’re not bad price-wise. You’ll thank them when you can feel your toes even in 10 degree weather. Get them at Zappos.com.

4. Steve Madden Harrness

Steve Madden Harrness

I’m a lover of Steve Madden shoes and these are no different. They’re leather booties with faux-shearling lining. These are really cute and can be worn with a lot of various outfits. Jeans, skirts… whatever your heart desires. They’re available at 6pm.com for $78.48.

5. Bass Hadwin Duck Boot

Bass Hadwin boots

Another pair of short boots to help deal with the elements. They’re waterproof and lined with fabric. Pull these on and go have a snowball fight. They’ll come in handy if you need to shovel snow. Rock thick socks with them and you’ll be just fine. They’re at DSW for $79.95. Getchu a piece.

So, stay warm this winter folks! 😀

    Lol at “getchu a piece”.

I really dig the The North Face Sveltelana boots! Hella cute. But it would look MUCH cuter without that zipper on the sides and the material didn’t look so shiny.. :\

I’m all set for snow boots but all I want is a cute pair of knee high wedge or flat boots that fit a 16 inch calf. I swear I’m not the only one with large calfs and I refuse to be the girl trying to wear tall boots half unzipped. No bueno. Seeing how large calfs are not just for the plus sized chica, I have no clue why more stores don’t carry them. Am I really asking for too much by wanting to go into a brick n mortar store and try on boots? No one wants to have to order boots online, pray they fit then return them when they don’t. Sorry for the rant Bella but I’m sick of having this problem winter after winter.

Oh wow! I think I love them all. Especially, loving the panel effect on the North Face boots.
I look forward to future shoe posts from Luvvie.

What in the world do you wear with these type of boots? I’d like to see them with outfits.

The Northface one is my absolutely favorite. Hard-surface but still feminine.

For those of you having a hard time finding boots for wide calves, check out duoboots.com. You can select your calf width when placing your order. They have a nice selection of tall boots. They are overseas (free shipping though) and a little pricey, but it’s definitely worth taking a gander. 🙂

    Happy Shopping!

I just bought those Steve Madden boots last month at Marshalls for $50. There super comfortable.

Wow, what a collection! I am afraid of all of them except the Steve Madden Harrness boots. They look the most normal and comfy and something that I would buy.
@ Melanie-OMG! NO WAY! I will definitely go looking around and hoping to find me a pair.

I love all of these boots! I’m a big fan of the Steve Madden leather boots! If you like the lower cut boots, check out the black leather boots with faux sheep lining by Lauren Conrad, they’re sold at Kohl’s and are so cute!

Definitely consider that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the web
the easiest thing to consider of. I say to
you, I certainly get irked while other folks think about
issues that they plainly don’t realize about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also outlined out the entire thing with no need side effect , people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

Hello, Neat post. There’s an issue together with your
site in internet explorer, may check this?

IE still is the market chief and a big portion of people will pass over your excellent writing due to this problem.
