Ease Into Monday With The Sunday Evening Beauty Ritual

March 18, 2013 by afrobella 22 Comments

It’s Monday, the beginning of another work week, the beginning of another cycle of go-go-go busy madness until Friday comes your way again. It’s always a stark transition, from weekend to work week. I’d like to make a recommendation to you for your upcoming weekend, to make your Monday morning a little easier.

End your Sunday with an evening beauty ritual. It’s something I’ve written about in the distant past, but lately I’ve been re-incorporating it into my life and it’s really been making me happier. After grocery shopping, cooking, eating, and writing, I unplug from work and social media and demands on my time, and I end my Sunday evening with some deserved bath time decadence. This is not a game. I’ve even got Spotify playlists dedicated to the shower experience and the Sunday bathtub soak.

On some Sundays I pamper my hair with a deep conditioning or steam treatment, and detangle my situation thoroughly. On other Sundays – like this one — I settle for a soak in the tub, or a body scrub, or just a longer-than-usual-because-I-deserve-it shower. Sometimes I spend the time using a hair depilatory or I slather on a face mask, or I do my nails. I switch things up on a case by case basis. The point of the Sunday afternoon or evening beauty ritual isn’t about what products you use, or following a specific weekly regimen. It’s about indulging your body and spirit with pleasure, happiness, and beauty. Do whatever makes you happy. Do whatever makes you feel clean, restored, and beautiful. Get in some solitude and relaxation before tackling Monday head on. Beauty therapy! I highly recommend it.

This sounds beyond lovely. I love that you have a playlist for your bubble bath! This Sunday I was frantically trying to get caught up after being sick with allergies all weekend and I ended up working all day and not making dinner until 10 PM! I showered at 12:30 AM. I’m going to take your advice to heart and make sure I set aside some unplugged time next Sunday so I’ll feel more ready for Monday morning when the alarm sounds! Have a great week, lady!

Feel like I need one of these baths every night. Life gets very hectic around our place, “most of the Time” and i can see how a relaxing bubble bath, nice smelling lotions and some calming music would put you in a Fantastic Place!!

I’ve always said that the more I look after myself the more I can focus on giving other people around me a positive vibe.

I am definitely going to try this because I find myself getting majorly depressed on Sunday evening. Hopefully, a nice soothing bath will help.

Good idea! I’m always spent by Sunday evening and dreading the start of the work week. I’m going to try a nice bubble bath with a glass of wine!

Bella, be sure to enjoy sipping hot green tea or some other natural and no caffeine tea for after bath rehydration inside. Hot steamy baths can deplete H2O. Balance!

That is the best idea I’ve heard all year! Sunday evenings for me are usually self-induced stressful races to finish what I think I need to do for Monday morning. I like your idea of clearing the mind and body before diving in to Monday! I’ll be adding this to my routine this weekend, and hopefully will have a better Monday morning!
