FEED for Target -The Collection, The Launch, The Fabulous Evening in Brooklyn

by afrobella

As a proud member of Target’s Inner Circle, I’m liable to be whisked off to incredible events from time to time. Last week in Brooklyn, I was lucky enough to attend a truly remarkable launch event for an incredible design partnership – one that I hope is successful beyond measure. Lauren Bush Lauren’s FEED Projects collection for Target is such a special and rare combination of things. Let me tell you what I’m LOVING about all of it.

Purchasing these items provides meals to hungry Americans, and there’s a number on each item to tell you how many meals you’ve purchased.

The design aesthetic is so classic and the range of items is so large – there’s fashion items like denim shirts and burlap-embellished tote bags. There are throw pillows and super cute oven-to-tableware that is IDEAL for your Fourth of July place settings. Seriously. So cute. There are bicycles that fold up. I want so many things from this collection, it’s not even funny. The fact that every purchase is a charitable donation in such a meaningful way is so awesome. I had to tell Lauren Bush Lauren how much I love the concept and the collection.

She’s lovely! Sweet and self-effacing and very welcoming. We chatted about FEED and the concept behind this collaboration – hang tight for that post, cause this one’s all about the fabulous launch event!

It was held in a beautiful location in the DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) area. Such a gorgeous venue. I attended the event with my dear friend Amy of Teach Mama – she took many of these incredible photos! It’s always so reassuring to go to fancy events with a friend. We had a great time people watching and just absorbing that we were in such a beautiful venue, at such a special event!

There were many of New York’s most recognizable faces, newsmakers and socialites. I spotted Shala Monroque and Vashtie, Karlie Kloss, and Sophia Bush (rocking a gorgeous star studded pajama suit by Smythe Jackets).  I recognized Todd Oldham and Nate Berkus, and clothing designers Cynthia Rowley and Costello Tagliapietra. Michael Musto and Lynn Yeager can’t ever be missed, and I got to have a lovely moment with Mr. Mickey, who was so friendly. Lovely man!

Here I am with the awesome Greg Cunningham of Target – always welcoming and warm and great to see. Thanks for making us feel welcome, Greg!

Beautiful actress and beautiful person Adepero Oduye was there, and she’s always such an absolute pleasure to encounter. Love her!

She re-introduced me to the one and only Bethann Hardison, who said such amazingly kind words about me and my blog.

It was such an absolutely validating, surreal moment, chatting with Bethann about social media and finding a balance in life.

After much socializing and mingling, it was time to eat. Everything at the FEED event was locally sourced and was absolutely delicious.

Former American Idol winner and total Dave Matthews soundalike Philip Phillips entertained the crowd as beautiful lights twinkled overhead – it was like we were in an exquisite barn, but we were in Brooklyn. Such an awesome event for such a great cause.

FEED USA + Target aims to provide ten million meals to people in need, and I personally believe this limited edition collection will meet its goal. Check out the FEED lookbook and be prepared to be impressed. The collection debuts June 30, and it includes 50 products spanning home, sporting goods, stationery, and apparel and accessories with prices ranging from $3 to $400. I can’t wait to shop this collection, and support this cause!

Thanks so much to Target for bringing me along to this incredible event, so proud to be a part of Target Inner Circle!

What am I wearing? Maxi dress by Ashley Stewart, jacket by Jessica Simpson, gold-capped flats via Shoedazzle, purse is Isaac Mizrahi via QVC, and my jewelry is by Mishakaudi with that vintage necklace I scored on Etsy!
