Afrobella’s Obsessions. Hair, Beauty, and Bath Edition – Summer 2013

by afrobella

Welcome to Afrobella’s Obsessions, a new (hopefully monthly) column where I share ALL of my latest favorites. From hair, beauty and bath to fashion, travel and tech – my top recommendations of the month will be collected in one spot!

AfrobellasObsessionsSummer2013

If you’re looking for something new and awesome to enhance your life, stay tuned. Check out a few of my favorite things in the hair, beauty and bath categories.

Hair

AfrobellaSummerHairFavorites2013

Ojon Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum. In the summer my hair loves and needs a good oil, to seal in moisture and give me lasting shine. This hair serum feels like luxury and gives my hair the nutrients it needs. Plus it penetrates and doesn’t leave my hair feeling oily to the touch.

Obia Curl Hydration Spray. Before headed out into the blazing summer sun, I like to spritz my hair with a little something something. Lately, that’s Obia Curl Hydration Spray. Ingredients include water, glycerine, argan oil, rose oil, vitamin E and more. My hair loves this stuff! And it also comes for MEN – for the natural haired gentlemen in your life.

Anu Essentials Soft Set Gel. Sometimes in the summer my hair can get a little limp. For days where I fret that my curls will wilt and frizz, I reach for Anu Essentials Soft Set Gel to give the coils a little hold. Made by natural hair genius Anu Prestonia, of the legendary Khamit Kinks hair salon in Brooklyn, her hair products are gentle and effective, and made with the best ingredients. A little goes a long way with this.

Beauty

Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks. Urban Decay is calling their new lipsticks “creamy badass luxury,” and that’s absolutely a claim I can stand behind. The colors are super vibrant, luxe, show stopping and long lasting. Bang might be the orange-red I’ve been looking for my whole life. Love, love, LOVE.

Chicago nail artist Ashley Crowe, AKA Astrowifey is kind of a genius. She can create anything you want on your fingertips with extreme creativity and precision. The mainstream may say that nail art is on the way out, but with talent like Astrowifey around, I think the trend is going to continue on and become more about skill and unique vision that it was before. Check her out on Twitter, and check out Tipsy Zine, her nail magazine!

Bath

Body-Oils

I love a bath oil. I use BelleButters Dous Te Body Oil, Georgia NY Luxury Skin Oil, and that lavender and wild orchid Shea Moisture Bath, Body and Massage Oil all the time! Now I gotta add another one to the list – Benefit’s new Bathina “soft to touch…hard to get” lightweight body oil spray is super moisturizing and smells grown woman sexy. Adding that to my arsenal next. It becomes available for sale in November 2013, so keep your eyes peeled for it.

For an all-natural bath experience, I highly recommend Smith & Vandiver Aromatherapes Nourishing Moisture Body Wash. I’m a sucker for anything jasmine, and this is an aloe based body wash that’s got jasmine flower water as a key ingredient. It smells SO good, and can be used as a body wash, shampoo, bubble bath…anywhere you want to be clean and smell amazing.

Fragrance

Agent Provocateur Petale Noir is the perfume that I wear when I want people to notice what perfume I’m wearing. It’s so sexy.

Those are some of the latest favorites to come across my way. See anything you like? Got any recommendations for me? Let me know your faves!

We’ve just started stocking Shea Moisture products, and on a rampage to try as many as I possibly can. The bath oil is definitely something I need to try as I too am a sucker for a good bath oil. Keep the reviews coming…x

I’m really surprised to see Agent Provocateur as part of a summer collection! I never really liked the fragrances I tried from them, finding them too strong, too heavy for the hot days! But maybe I should rethink hahah

I’m very choosy about my perfume selection. Agent Provocateur Petale Noir is one of the choice i make when i really want to get floral fragrance. But most of the time i use the I like the most, Victoria’s Secret Vanilla Lace Fragrance. I makes me feel special.
