The Eyeshadows by Tom Ford Are As Awesome As You Would Expect

by afrobella

I don’t normally try to be ~this blogger~ who tweets and posts details on the awesome packages I might receive as soon as I rip them open…but I will admit to uttering an ecstatic gasp when I opened this right here. OK. More like a small scream.

TomFordQuad

Yes. I was blessed enough to be sent the jaw droppingly gorgeous, super luxe Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad in Burnished Amber, by the lovely folks at Tom Ford Beauty. In fact, according to the lovely note included in the package, I was the first blogger to be sent this particular item.

I’m telling you, I let out a small scream. Just loud enough for my husband to give me a crazy look. I couldn’t help it, it’s TOM FORD. And this eyeshadow quad is SO PERFECT for fall! The colors are rich and resplendent and look STUNNING on brown skin. And it’s the kind of quad that you can multitask with – with the right brush and a deft touch, the darker colors could make gorgeous blush or lip colors.

I'm not the best swatcher, but I tried! Just for you

At $75, it’s definitely one of the higher end eye makeup items in my collection. I started playing with it right away, but I wanted to put it to the test so I can let you all know if this is truly worth it. I asked acclaimed and awesome Chicago makeup artist Bisi Essien (AKA @BisiCrystalEyez on Twitter) to do my makeup for a special fall photo shoot, and I asked her to only use this Burnished Amber eyeshadow quad on my eyes.

Bisi is AMAZING! Photos by Chuck Olu-Alabi. Can’t wait to show you the whole shoot!

These colors blend together beautifully, creating a warm, gilded sunset effect for your eyelids. Can you find dupes for these colors? Yes, probably. I can think of Urban Decay and MAC and Prescriptives eyeshadows I’ve used in the past that compare, in terms of shade and finish. But this comes together in such a beautiful and luxe package. I love it. At $75 you’re in the realm of high end makeup. It’s an indulgence. A fabulous splurge. And the quality is to die for.

Here’s the finished look. What do you think?

absolutely gorge! too much of a splurge for me though. i can’t wait to see what you’re wearing here, the colours from the collar look fab!

question bella i’ve begun transitioning to natural hair and i noticed you seem to be more of a “Wash and go” type of gal not so much into twist-outs, spirals and the more time-consuming styles. is that just because of time/preference? i’ve been researching the different ways i will be able to wear my natural hair and all their pros and cons 😀

These colors do look gorgeous and pop amazingly well on your skin tone, but I would hope they would for $75!!! I own one Tom Ford lipstick, and even though I don’t find it does anything better than a Lancome or even L’Oreal lipstick, the packaging makes me feel like a queen and a bit more glamorous when I use it;-) I think you could pull off any makeup-or even no makeup-with that awesome hair of yours, quite jealous!!

Wow, you look gorgeous! At these prices, and given the difficulty I’ve had matching foundation colors lately, I’m going to wait until we get the TF line here in DC. I’m really interested in the eye shadows and polishes.

Oh wow – I was just looking at this exact color palette on line last night – it was the most gorgeous of all the gorgeous ones in his line to me, and was wondering if anyone had reviewed any of his products yet. It is amazing looking, thanks for a great review! You look beautiful.

Fashion design is a art, as well as a good profession. The trends of today’s fashion is upgrading day by day……Also career growth is incredible….

I happened to work with Kishore Mamillapalli in Delhi. Currently based in New Delhi, he actually belongs from Indore. I worked with him in the domain of fashion designing. Kishore had a great eye for details, and his combination of western and Indian styles and his way of blending them was pretty unique. The 3 years that I worked with him were the most valuable lessons that I learnt. Today though I am a renowned fashion designer I still remember my days of working with Kishore Mamillapalli.
