The BEST Mascara for The Red Carpet

Red carpet makeup requires perfection in general, but there’s one particular item that needs to stay put and remain flawless all night long no matter what — and that’s mascara. Even if there are tears or if it rains, those lashes need to be full, fabulous and smudge-free. For fancy red carpet occasions, by and large celebrity MUA’s use false lashes for maximum volume and staying power. At the 89th Academy Awards, celebrity makeup artists used a combination of products to get the look that lasts. Here’s what some of the top stars wore on the red carpet, mascara-wise – and here are some of my personal fave mascara recommendations for your special red carpet moments!

For the Oscars red carpet, MUA Jessica Smalls used COVERGIRL So Lashy! BlastPro Mascara in Extreme Black on Janelle Monae. Gorgeous!

MAC Waterproof Mascara

For Taraji P. Henson’s look, MUA Ashunta Sherriff says, “I applied House of Lashes Iconic Lashes with Duo Black Adhesive for extra boost of glam. I added one coat of MAC Waterproof Mascara on bottom lashes.”

e.l.f. Mineral Infused Mascara

For actress Nina Dobrev, celebrity Makeup Artist, Spencer Barnes for e.l.f. Cosmetics defined her lashes with two coats of e.l.f. Mineral Infused Mascara.

Audacious Mascara The famous Uzo of NARS did Ava DuVernay’s makeup, and the look included their awesome Flibuste Velvet Shadow Stick. I LOVE their Audacious Mascara.

Celebrity MUA Kindra Mann worked with Busy Philipps and added a few coats of the new Avon True Color SuperExtend Nourishing Mascara in Black to her lashes.

IT Cosmetics Superhero™ Mascara

The gorgeous Priyanka Bose was beautified by one of my favorite makeup artists to watch, Nick Barose for IT Cosmetics & Kiehl’s. He used fabulous Kiehl’s skincare, but what mascara? Apparently one of my favorites — IT Cosmetics Superhero™ Mascara. It’s so plush and defines beautifully. Honestly, I love everything by IT Cosmetics that I’ve tried so far!

Those are the mascara details I was able to gather for the 89th Academy Awards. What are a few of my personal faves at the moment? Let me tell you!

I really love COVERGIRL’s Queen Collection False Lash Drama mascara, it’s one of my latest everyday go-to’s. It’s got a two-sided brush, the flat side to maximize volume and the comb side for definition.

L'Oreal Paris Cosmetics Voluminous Feline Noir Washable Mascara

I’m a sucker for fly packaging and leopard print, so L’Oreal Paris Cosmetics Voluminous Feline Noir Washable Mascara was already on my radar on principle. And Blackest Noir is indeed that. I love L’Oreal mascara all day every day and this one rocks my world.

Maybelline New York Volum' Express The Colossal Big Shot Washable Mascara

Through the years I’ve been into many a Maybelline mascara, but my latest love affair is with their Maybelline New York Volum’ Express The Colossal Big Shot Washable Mascara, it delivers on volume, staying power and sleek packaging. Maybelline makes great lengthening mascaras. So good!

Those are some of the latest red carpet ready mascaras and some of my favorites that I’ve tried, tested and can recommend. If you have sensitive eyes, or are seeking mascara kits, check out those recommendations from my friends.

What are your latest favorite mascaras, bellas?

I want a mascara that makes my lashes look lush and feel soft not clumpy.

    Right now I use Maybelline.
