The Makeup Show Chicago MUA Ticket Giveaway!

by afrobella

As I just mentioned in the previous post, I’ll be at The Makeup Show Chicago this weekend. What I didn’t mention is that I’m not just attending, I’ll be speaking!

I’m one of the speakers in The Makeup Show’s Industry Insider Pro Pods, where industry professionals, pro artists, top beauty bloggers, agents, photographers, beauty editors and other industry experts spend an hour speaking to show attendees about brands, products, their careers and experience. So if you’re interested or new to the world of beauty blogging and have questions for me, come see me! The pro pods are moderated by amazing MUA Jennifer James, and besides myself some true innovators of the makeup and beauty blogging field will be making appearances in the Industry Insider Pro Pods! I’m excited to meet everyone there. And I’ve got a special giveaway for you!!

I have a pair of tickets to The Makeup Show Chicago, and I’d like to give them to an up and coming makeup artist. And if you’re the winner, I want to make sure we meet in person, so please come to the Pro Pod and say hello!

Are you that somebody? Post a comment below with a link to your site or portfolio, or just information about you and where you work!

Because The Makeup Show Chicago is taking place on Sunday and Monday, turnaround on this contest is QUICK.

Comments will be closed and a winner will be chosen by Thursday (yes, tomorrow!) at 6 pm.

Good luck, makeup artists! Hope to see you this weekend!

edited at 6:29 pm June 9 — and the winner is Patricia Moore! I’ll be in touch to get your information ASAP!

Bellas, if you didn’t win, a one day ticket is $35. I still hope to see you there!

I am Nella Danielle and I have been doing make up for 5 years. I gave up on my dream to be a pro MUA a year and a half ago as there didn’t seem to be any opportunities for me to seriously pursue artistry. In the past months I have been blessed and pleasantly surprised with new and numerous opportunities to share and grow in my artistry. I am the lead make up artist for a MU Boutique that hosts it’s own line called SYLK cosmetics and I have began to freelance for myself once again to build my portfolio and skill set. I regained my passion for make up artistry and the beauty industry with a fervor like I’ve never had before and I’d love love love to attend and be immersed in that which I live and breathe: make up!

    Hello,

I’m Chaka Washington and I represent my makeup artistry ChakaTomorrow. I am an up and coming makeup artist in Chicago. I have had a dream and passion for makeup since I was a young girl. Unfortunately, like many other artists that wish to pursue their passions, I listened to my mother went to school to pursue my bachelors in Marketing, putting aside my dreams of being a makeup artist. In 2009, I finally put aside all negative connotations, where I focused all my energies to finally focus on my dream. Since 2009 I am been truly blessed by having a dynamic support team with my mentor Crystal Wright and our other interns that believe in my dreams of being a dynamic makeup artist where I can show the world visually my artistic colors. I would truly appreciate the great opportunity of attending this massive event, so that I am able to continue my education, goals as a talented makeup artist. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Thank you,
    Chaka T. Washington

Hi my name is Tamika Knox and I’m a young inspiring Makeup artist. My passion for the beauty world has led me to follow my dreams of being a makeup artist. I started pursuing my dream 2 years ago and I enjoy the thrill I get when making beautiful people shine through the art of makeup. I currently work as a freelance makeup artist in Florida and I’m looking for that right opportunity to help take me to the next level. I work fulltime and freelance on the side but decided follow my heart and lifetime dream an pursue it fulltime. My artistry name is PaintedFacez and I hope to one day be able to give back and help mentor and shape the young makeup artist of the future. Giving this opportunity I know that I could learn from the seasoned great artist as your self and help build on to my talent. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks In Advance,
    Tamika Knox

In the beginning, makeup for me like most young ladies, was a hobby and an interest. I didn’t understand when I was younger why I was so drawn to it. I like most people aspired to live the so called “american dream,” go to college, get a degree and a job in a fortune 500 company. In 2009 that dream turned into a reality for me, I was laid off and I found myself having to make some life changing decisions; should I continue down the corporate alley or do I use what God gave me, a real talent. Well I made the decision to cultivate my gift and pursuse a bigger and better dream.

I currently work at Sephora in St. Louis, MO and was offered that job as I was shopping for products. That type of opportunity has never happened to me before; therefore, I knew I must have made the right decision, to walk in my Gift. Simultaneously, I started my own company “Reflections~Love’n What You See;” its more of a ministry, whereby I strive to encourage women and bring back the confidence that may have been lost. My goal is to reiterate that they are beautiful daughters! My motto: Beauty comes from within; when God made you, he made you in his image Perfect in every way! Makeup is not to enhance, but to Illuminate an already Perfect canvas….

The makeup show would be a great opportunity to not only expose me to a world beyond St. Louis, but for me to further enchance my learning as a new artist in the industry. Learning for me never ends and I’m always willing and ready to be a sponge and take advantage of great opportunities!

    Sincerely,

    Patricia Moore
