I only have ten bronzers in my hands. Permit me to get my Tyra Banks on as I announce the winners.
and last but not least — Berrybrowne – you asked the Ask Afrobella question that led to the giveaway, so you deserve one! So ten bronzers will be mailed out as soon as I contact you all for addresses over the weekend. And I do have lots more giveaways coming up, bellas – so don’t despair if you didn’t win this time! We’ve got more in store and it’s getting better all the time.
And because I’m a total dolt (or as my auntie Opal always used to call me, Forgetful Jones), I clean forgot to make an announcement for regular reader Aulelia. She’s the editor-in-chief of Kerosene magazine, and… oh, I’ll just let her tell it herself: “I have this independent magazine that I am starting up. It will probably end up being bi-annual print magazine and I am working on putting the first issue out by January/February 2008. The magazine is called Kerosene, based in the United Kingdom and it will be a cultural chronicle of the Afro-diaspora with essays on politics, culture, music and fashion. We want brash, abstract and passionate thoughts on pop-culture too and anything relevant to people of African descent worldwide. We are in the initial stages of creation so a website isn’t up yet but are working hard on that. I would like to ask a favour: would you mind perhaps putting an announcement of this on your website for submissions? I would truly appreciate this because we are open for submissions now and I want to scout for the best Afro-diaspora writing talent and your website is very popular with thoughtful commenters as I have seen.”
So, thoughtful commenters — looking for a forum to share your writing with the world? Send queries and submissions to email@example.com.
Good luck with the endeavor, Aulelia, I can’t wait to read it!
