Throwback Thursday and the Soaptopia Contest Winners!

My sincerest apologies to those of you who entered the Soaptopia giveaway! I got caught up in the holidays, and also – I really prefer not to post the NEXT giveaway before I’ve heard from everyone in the previous giveaway. Having said that — there’s a Nail Aid winner and a Body Shop glam winner who haven’t responded to my e mail. So hurry up and write back!

Finally, the winners are…

Jacquie

Denise

Latasha Scott

Mrs. McKinzie

and Skyy2000.

Congrats! If you read this before you hear from me, holla at me at bella@afrobella.com with your full name and mailing address, and remind me one more time what Soaptopia prize you wanted. Thanks!

Now for Throwback Thursday, I got a bone to pick with the creators of the blog, Men Who Look Like Old Lesbians. So ridiculous.

I learned about the site from my beloved Best Week Ever blog — Men Who Look Like Old Lesbians is on BWE’s 10 Best Things to Happen to the Internet Because of the Writers Strike list. I will admit, the site did make me LOL more than once — John Davidson! Bret Michaels! Walter Mercado. Brian Setzer OMG, and I used to think he was so hot in the days of Stray Cat Strut. But don’t you dare call out Smokey Robinson! Not Smokey! OK, he’s apparently had some… work done. But I still look at him and see the fine, fine man he was back in the day. Oh, Smokey was so pretty. And his voice? To die for. Here, watch, remember.

Ooh, indeed. That song makes me absolutely melt. Ooh Baby Baby is now, and will always be the jam. I’ve heard many a cover version, but they can’t hold a candle.

Happy Thursday!

  4. Happy New Year! And I agree that the website was wrong; but it was funny.

  5. Mmmm, mmmmm, mmmm, mmmm. Loves me some Smokey!! Girl he could really beg, okay? ;-}} Yeah, I didn’t look at the website, but sometimes it’s best to accept the changes of time, apparently. Though I imagine it can be hard to let go of the cute little thing he was back in the day. Oh well! I love these Throwback Thursdays, by the way.

  6. You’ve been tagged! :)

  11. bella,

On your recommendation I gave Soaptopia a whirl and placed an order last Friday. I received an email confirmation the next day, but after paying $10 in Priority Shipping *still* haven’t received my order!

I’ll be calling their store tomorrow; I just wanted to let you know abut them dropping the ball.

  12. Bella, I just wanted to say THANK YOU again for choosing me as a winner of the Soaptopia giveaway. I received my 16 oz jar today and jumped for joy. :) I was clearly not expecting such a large jar, a mini jar maybe. The packaging was PERFECT and I ran to show my hubby as a hint that he can purchase me anything from there website. Again thank you!!! p.s. I hope the unhappy reader Re finds what she’s looking for else where. I’m a daily reader, continue doing a spectacular job.

  13. Bella,

Just wanted to let you know that I called Soaptopia and they have made good on my order difficulties. I think they were having a problem with their website that’s all fine now.

  14. hoorah,
so happy to hear that! It always makes me sad when people get screwy service from a company I’ve endorsed. Soaptopia is good stuff. Hope you love it as much as I do when you try it.

So glad you love it, Jacquie!
