Avon Pro 3-in-1 Lip Wand Giveaway!
Everyone loves lip gloss, and lipstick’s been having quite the resurgence in this craptastic economy. But the real tip for making your lip look last?
Layering.
I’m so late to the lip pencil party, but now that I’m here I’m ALL about it. Lip crayons are great n’ all, but I’m finding that if I want a finish that doesn’t bleed and won’t quit, thin lip pencils are best.
But what if you can’t choose, and don’t want to splurge on all three kinds of lip color items?

AVON to the rescue!
The brand that’s brought you an infinite variety of beauty essentials has a unique and awesome lippie that covers all your bases. With the Avon 3-in-1 Lip Wand, there’s a little lip pencil, a moisture rich and luxe lipstick, and a glossy, gorgeous lip gloss all in one slim stick.
If you’re going somewhere and need to make your makeup last all day, this little guy is your best friend.
Here’s how I work the lip wand:
Step 1 – Prep. That means I exfoliate and moisturize. I have dry, peeling lips so I need to scrub them softly, and keep them well protected. A toothbrush works great but can be harsh. I use a little sugar and coconut oil, or as Bare Budget Beauty recommends, honey and sugar. For even more lip lovin’, I moisturize with one of the kajillion lip balms I keep on hand. My latest faves are the Evolution of Smooth lip sphere which is cute and 95% organic to boot, and Dr. Kiss, which is moist, slightly tingly, delicious, and gives a slight blush of color. The point here is to slightly moisturize, but not slather on anything heavy. Just a dab will do.
Step 2 — Outline! Using the pointed end of my lip pencil, carefully I outline my lips. Then using the side of the pencil, I shade in the rest of my lips. Lip pencil can feel dry and show up flaky lips if you don’t do step 1, so be forewarned.
Step 3 – Depends. If I’m going someplace regular, I might blend with the gloss and be out. If I’m going someplace chic that requires glamour, I use lipstick over my pencil to lock in the look. And if I’m feeling extra extra over the top fabulicious, I use all three. Pencil, then lipstick, then gloss. Is it too much? I don’t think so! More more more, how do you like it?
I’m loving the Avon 3-in-1. My only, ONLY complaint is I wish it came in more colors. But this thing is $9.50 and it compares to department store brand lippies I’ve tried, so my complaints are silenced by my natural inclination for value.
I promised I’d end this week with a giveaway, and here it is! 10 lucky Afrobella readers will score an Avon 3-in-1 pencil of their very own.
All you need to do is comment below, and tell me your favorite lip item. Pencil, stick, or gloss? And why?
I’ll keep this open over the weekend, and choose 10 winners by Tuesday. So comment away, bellas. August isn’t over yet, and for bloggerversary month I’m gonna keep the giveaways coming fast and furious!

Lately I have been loving Burt’s Beewax with whatever lipgloss I have on top. It makes my gloss pop and last longer plus the peppermint oil in the Burt’s is so tingly and soothing.
oh wait I forgot about my Bobby Brown gloss… Love that stuff too. Its a great splurge and also has honey in it which as so many other benefits than the flawless gloss action.
I like lip gloss because it’s effortless and adds moisture.
my favorite lip item is lip gloss. I am not much of a lipstick or lip pencil user, I think lip gloss moisturizes better than either of those, and I have very dry lips. My favorite is covergirl wetslicks.
I like gloss. Right now, I am loving Cover Girl wetslicks.
I like lip gloss best. It’s sure to keep my lips from feeling dry. My mother, on the other hand, has a very different opinion. The first time she saw me wearing lip gloss, she said, “You look like you’ve just eaten a piece of friend chicken.” Twenty years later, gloss is still my fave!
Oops. That’s “fried chicken.”
Me me me! I’m just starting to wear makeup for the first time since high school (and it was a mess) and would love to try this!
PICK ME! PICK ME!
My favorite lip pencils are currant and chestnut from MAC. I usually can wear either pencil with pretty much everything. While currant does tend to bleed a little, when I put it on dry and shade in for color, it is a perfect compliment!
My fav lip gloss right now is Victoria’s Secret Lip Gloss. Its $7.00 a tube, and its smells heavenly! It goes on smooth. I have it in pink, nude, and red. I wear them ALL the time.
I favor the CO Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint from Bath & Body Works. It’s not sticky, it tastes like mint and it comes in subtle shads. I like playing up my eyes so it’s nice to have a subtle shine on the mouth without distracting from the eyes. Thanks, love the site!
I love Clinique’s Black Honey color in both the Almost Lipstick and Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss formulations. Black Honey is a sheer dark berry color that looks great against my caramel complexion. The Almost Lipstick is moisturizing and very easy to wear, while the Superbalm is super-shiny and leaves a nice sheer berry tint.
Personally, I love gloss. I prefer to go with a natural look on a day to day basis & gloss is the best thing for that. When I do want a little more of glam look, I go for pencil all over my lips and then cover it with lipstick/gloss. When I use that method it seems to last for hours.
My lips are my best feature, so I am always playing up my pout. Lip pencil, lip gloss, liptick, I love it all. Favorite gloss–toss up between Mac Languish and Nars Cabiria. Favorite lipstick, Vasanti’s India. Favorite lip liner is good old Wet N Wild’s 666.
And what’s up with the fall issues of my favorite magazines that are saying that “gloss is over”? Not a chance.
I love a good, bold, matte lipstick. It screams “drama” and I think it’s a good idea to keep my drama onstage, onscreen, and on my lips. ;o)
