“When we look at you, we see a true American Cinderella, on the threshold of a brilliant new career. Precious is but the first of many adjectives coming your way. And they are all great. Congratulations, Gabby Sidibe.”
Even though Gabourey Sidibe didn’t win Best Actress tonight at the Oscars, I am sure she was thrilled to bits just because of what Oprah said. What an incredible moment.
And I didn’t see The Blind Side — so I’m unwilling to cast judgment on a film I haven’t yet seen. But I thought Sandra Bullock’s speech was everything an Oscar speech should be. Gracious, funny, touching, respectful, memorable. Well said, Sandy.

I saw The Blind Side and Precious and loved them both. Almost didn’t go see Precious because of some negative comments by relatives and friends, but decided to go see for myself. Sometimes people hate the truth, abuse is real in all nationalities. I am so proud of Monique and Gabby! And I have always been a Sandra Bullock fan, she is a great comedian and actress!

honestly, in that best actress category, it could have went to any of those ladies and been welllll deserved. Sandra did a great job in the Blind Side, she really did, so congrats to her.
Oprah’s speech was perfect. Can you imagine being Gabby, just decided to skip school one day and now you have Oprah presenting you at the ACADEMY AWARDS for a best actress oscar nom, in the same category with MERYL STREEP??? I’d fall over and die from shock.

The Blind Side and Precious are very good movies. Both movies are very touching.

With all due respect, Gabby needs to lose weight. This is just not healthy at all. This is why our First Lady is having to kick off a childhood obesity campaign. The bottom line is, I shouldn’t be able to see all those stretch marks across Gabby’s chest in her pictures. I hope that now that she has some money and a bit of notoriety, it will empower her to make some better choices about what she eats and how she spends her time.
