All Pumpkin Everything – Beauty Items With the Flavor of Fall

by afrobella

Now that the feast has been served and the leftovers have been put away, I hope you’re not sick of the flavor of the season!

Pumpkin is everything right now, and the orange gourd-like squash is being incorporated into body and bath products, home fragrance and hair products because of its many astounding properties. Pumpkin is delicious (and good for you too) in baked goods, pies, soups, stews and chili. Its warm, inviting fragrance reminds us of this season and happy times with family and friends. And besides all of that, pumpkin rocks for external use, packing enough antioxidants, vitamin C, and alpha hydroxy acid to help clear up your skin and impart a glowy, fresh look. At this time of year, pumpkin starts popping up in everything, and with good reason. It’s amazing on so many levels!

These are a few of my favorite pumpkin products — some of which I’ve been lucky enough to review recently. I hope you find them as delicious and effective as I do!

The Body Shop Spiced Pumpkin shower gel.

For the first time, The Body Shop listened to the voice of the people to make their latest product! Their new Spiced Pumpkin bath and shower gel was chosen as the winner of their Create an Original competition in Autumn 2010. Stephie from California, congrats! You did GOOD! This shower gel is rich and warm and delicious and inviting without being too food-like in fragrance. Delicious for fall. Love it! $5.99.

Yum Yum Candle’s Pumpkin Sugar Tin Candle.

Pumpkin Spice and Jasmine candles by Yum Yum Candle. HEAVEN!

I’ve been a fan of Yum Yum Candle‘s products for a while now! Yum Yum Candle is an indie, small business that makes high quality bath and body items, and heavenly candles that make your whole room smell delicious. I was finally lucky enough to meet the creator of these beautiful candles at the Circle of Sisters convention earlier this year. There we chatted, hugged, and she gave me this awesome Pumpkin Spice candle. I wanted to eat it the moment I smelled it! Instead I brought it back to Chicago with me and waited till now. It is SO delicious. If you want to make your home smell like you baked something, this is your candle. $10.99 to $18.99.

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Peel

I already mentioned the antioxidants, vitamin C, and alpha hydroxy acid contained in pumpkin, and the geniuses of Peter Thomas Roth harnessed the orangey goodness into their Pumpkin Enzyme Peel. Meant to detoxify and purify your face and neck, this could be your new favorite thing if you have dull skin or blackheads. Pumpkin enzymes help to strip away the dead cells on the surface of your skin. Granted this isn’t the cheapest solution at $44, and it’s increasingly hard to find. If you can’t find this in stock, you might want to try an at-home method. DIY pumpkin mask with honey and whipped cream, anyone?

Darcy’s Botanicals Pumpkin Seed Moisturizing Conditioner.

Yes, pumpkin pulp is great for your skin and pumpkin seeds are good for your hair! Pumpkin seed oil is extremely moisturizing, and the ingredients in this creamy conditioner are so wonderfully delicious. Pumpkin seed oil, organic virgin coconut oil, oat protein – my hair loves it any time of year! $12 a bottle and well worth it IMO.

Those are some of the best pumpkin infused bath, body, hair and home items I’ve tried so far! Do you have any favorites? Do you prefer to buy, or DIY when it comes to food-related beauty?

Darcy’s Botanicals Pumpkin Seed Conditioner is the TRUTH! I love this stuff and always make sure I have a back-up bottle so I never run out.

Belle Butters also makes a pumpkin butter it is in stock now but isn’t carried year round.

I haven’t done a lot of pumpkin products but I would like to try the Darcy’s Botanicals. On my next hair order I would give that a shot. I think DIY is great but sometimes it’s easier and less messy to buy.

Shea Terra Organics GINGERED PUMPKIN Organic Shea Butter Fair Trade Sugar Scrub & Whipped Shea Butter Ultimate Moisturizing Body Creme are such a sinfully decadent duo! Each is so rich and decadent, you’ll have to stop yourself from tasting…it’s almost good enough to eat!

I received an email about some new pumpkin facial masque from Huetiful (the hair steamer company). I was waiting for a reason to use the facial piece that came with it.

Wen has a new seasonal scent, fall ginger pumpkin! cant wait to try. Also, bath and body works has a pumpkin face mask for the tru blue spa collection. I tried it the other day and it smells SO amazing, good enough to eat. It also left my skin softer, tighter, and clearer after the dirst application. Leaves a light pumpkin scent on your skin that follows you for a few hours. 🙂
