You Deserve – the We Are Onyx Box

by afrobella

Bellas, I’ll be honest. Not all subscription beauty boxes are made equal. You sign up and hope for the best, and sometimes you find yourself disappointed by the tiny samples, the overabundance of drugstore products you could’ve bought yourself, or the look and packaging of the box itself. Sometimes you just want more than a miniature nail polish, a tetrapak of shampoo and a tiny test tube of perfume, right? Sometimes you want something more luxe, more unique. Something meant for your individual sensibilities.

WeAreOnyx1

I have been lucky enough to try out many subscription beauty boxes. There’s a box out there for every need. And despite having tried many of the most buzzed about boxes, I found myself so incredibly impressed by the awesomeness of the We Are Onyx box. It’s different from the others I’ve tried so far.

It goes beyond the box to create a complete, informed beauty experience for the consumer.

“At We Are Onyx, we wanted to take the best parts of the tech world and the beauty world and bring them together for black women in an elevated way. We want to help black women to demand more of the beauty industry and the brands that serve us, and engage those players as the powerful and viable beauty consumer that we are,” co-founder Delali Kpodzo explained, in a recent interview. I was lucky enough to meet Delali in Los Angeles, and she is amazing. Classy, elegant, brilliant, and passionate about We Are Onyx and black beauty in general.

I dig the upscale approach they’re taking to the subscription box concept. Let me tell you why You Deserve it!

4 Things I LOVE About the We Are Onyx Box.

1 – it’s a beautiful box. Packaging is part of the whole thing that makes your subscription box experience memorable and special. The We Are Onyx box looks gorgeous even before you open it – it totally evoked an “oooh” out of me the second I laid eyes on it. It’s luxe and striped and something you want to display in your home.

2 – They’re dedicated to indie brands. I love discovering new things, and because at this point I’ve been around the block and back in the beauty game, there are many brands I’m already familiar with. But the We Are Onyx box I was sent for review included quite a few samples from brands I’d never heard of. I also discovered Hairveda and Entwined and Komaza Care – brands I’d been curious about but hadn’t yet had a chance to try. I loved all of them! I appreciate a unique selection.

3 – The website takes it all to another level. The whole concept behind We Are Onyx is beauty + tech, and the experience doesn’t end for you when you open the box and try the products. On WeAreOnyx.com you’ll discover so many helpful videos and tutorials by their carefully handpicked roster of beauty experts, including dermatologist Dr. Meena Singh, registered dietician Amandeep Kalsi, makeup artist Eric Allen, and natural hair celebrity stylist Felicia Leatherwood, who you know I adore and respect tremendously! There’s an awesome resource of information here, and it’s a brilliant concept, executed with careful consideration.

4 – The variety within the box itself. I love hair products as much as the next bella, but life (and this blog) is about more than just hair. My Onyx box was a specially curated sample to show me the range of their offerings. It included a variety of products for all aspects of beauty – including Gleam Body Radiance by Melanie Mills, the Herban Body Care Clay Bar and All Over Moisturizer, Colour Gossip Nail Polish and a delightful candle by the No. 9 Candle Co. It’s a holistic approach to beauty that I can appreciate. Their standard box includes 4-5 items and you can purchase all of the products you liked, straight from their site.

There are many beauty and lifestyle subscription boxes out there, and if you’re looking for a new one to experience, I definitely recommend We Are Onyx. You Deserve it.

The We Are Onyx subscription box typically includes 4 to 5 product samples and costs $20 a month. Click here to sign up, and click here to follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.

I am completely taken with everything about this. I especially am impressed with promoting indie brands one normally wouldn’t be privy to. Some of the best things you can find are not mainstream. And the fact that the subscription is only $20 a month gives me more to gush about.

The best robot vacuum cleaners cleaner is a very useful device for home.
Since 2002, iRobot has continually made improvements to the original question – no, they are not good forend of tenancy
cleaning or kitchen cleaning. The Professional
Roomba The Mint thought it was a Japanese robot cleaner because
of its perfect appearance and beautiful details.
