Natural Hair Summer Lovin’

by afrobella

We’ve got 100 degree temperatures happening in Chicago, and my hair is letting me know how it feels about that. It’s not happy. Every day it’s fighting against extreme heat and sweat inducing humidity. Keeping my hair detangled, conditioned and somehow maintaining some kind of curl pattern has been challenging with this weather. As the heat increases, I find that I need to switch up my products. Here are the products my hair is LOVING this summer – and for the sake of brevity, I’m reviewing them Twitter-style. 140 characters or less!

Oyin Hair Dew

Oyin Handmade Hair Dew – light and creamy, Hair Dew is giving my hair the moisture it so desperately craves now. Castor + coconut + olive oil + aloe = happy curls!

Koils of Nature shealoe

Koils by Nature Shealoe Leave-In Conditioner – My hair is in LOVE with this. When my curls are frizzy & sad, Shealoe brings my curl pattern back to life! Moisturizing, nurturing, awesome!

Eden Body Works shampoo

Eden Body Works Shampoo – Soothing peppermint, cleansing yet gentle on the scalp. Makes my hair clean but not squeaky or stripped dry. Essential relief for summer heat!

Twisted Sista Different Strokes serum

Twisted Sista Different Strokes Serum – For frizz-free shiny curls protected by a UV filter, Twisted Sista serum delivers & then some. For those who don’t mind ‘cones in their curls.

Naturalista Cosmetics Juicy Leave In Conditioner

Naturalista Cosmetics Juicy Leave In Conditioner – It smells like cookies & love. Yummy! Shea butter, aloe, castor, jojoba, avocado, hemp, coconut, olive oil & glycerin. I’m in hair heaven!

Those are my summer faves of late! See anything you love, need, or gotta have?

For the Leave-In Conditioner, won’t you get the feeling of being oily even if you apply a small amount? I’m thinking of buying one but would want to make sure, I don’t feel heavy and uncomfortable. Would love to hear from you!

True fact on the Twisted Sista serum. I found some buried in my product pile and gave it a try and my curls absolutely love it. Best part is that it’s pretty cheap.

I’m in the process of growing out my relaxed hair. And right now my hair is in that mid-length awkward stage. I plan on getting my hands on some Oyin Handmade Hair Dew.

Living in Mississippi is wonderful but its sort of a downer because we have like one wholes food store in the city which is not ‘Wholes Food’ but known as Rainbow. So I would love to try all of these products myself because I am just now hearing about them and in September of this year I would be 1year natural so I think its about time to try some new products. 🙂
