I’m ALWAYS in the mood for celebrating on a Friday, but I’m ESPECIALLY in the mood today…. because Afrobella won THREE Black Weblog Awards!!!
I won the popular vote for Best Culture Blog, Best Writing in a Blog (which I wanted more than anything), and Best Style and Fashion Blog — which I was really surprised to be nominated for and to win. I was up against strong competition like Scandalous Beauty and The Fashion Bomb in that category, and my hat’s off to both of them. I can’t believe I won. I have YOU readers to thank!
Thank you, thank you, thank you all so much for voting for me, and thanks to the folks who organize the Black Weblog Awards to begin with. It’s gotta be so much work, and this black blogger sincerely appreciate your efforts.
Over the weekend I’m gonna shout out all of my homies who won (YAY, Soulbounce!!). Right this minute, I wanna share the celebration with you!!!
I dropped hints that something big was coming up throughout August for my bloggiversary, but a giveaway of this magnitude takes time and finesse. Thus, September.
Bellas, my history with the Carol’s Daughter brand goes back to some of the earliest days of Afrobella — Lisa Price inspired me to get up, get out, and get a little something of my own. I figured, if she could turn the hair and beauty concoctions she mixed up in her kitchen into an internationally recognized, sold-in-Sephora brand, then HEY! Maybe this little beauty blog I dreamed up at home could someday grow to be the kind of movement I always wished I could be a part of. I feel great about the progress I’ve made so far!
I wrote the Carol’s Daughter Is It Worth It post in July, and the 100 + comments you left set some powerful wheels in motion! Not only did the CD peeps love all of the feedback — good, bad, indifferent, it just proved how connected customers are to the brand. I can think of very few black hair care and beauty brands that would inspire such an active response. In that review, I came to the conclusion that yes, some Carol’s Daughter products are indeed quite worth it. And the good people at CD hooked you guys up with a very special giveaway of my favorite products!
Five lucky Afrobella readers can win a package containing:
— Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner
— Candy Paint in Bubbling Brown Sugar.
What can you do to get your hands on this beautifying bounty? It’s easy!
Click here to sign up on the special Carol’s Daughter sign up page between now and September 12. They’ll help me to choose five random winners, and I’ll be in touch to get your contact details shortly thereafter.
Have a happy, happy Friday!!! And thank you all so much again. I love you bellas!
