Celebrate With a Carol’s Daughter Giveaway!

I’m ALWAYS in the mood for celebrating on a Friday, but I’m ESPECIALLY in the mood today…. because Afrobella won THREE Black Weblog Awards!!!

I won the popular vote for Best Culture Blog, Best Writing in a Blog (which I wanted more than anything), and Best Style and Fashion Blog — which I was really surprised to be nominated for and to win. I was up against strong competition like Scandalous Beauty and The Fashion Bomb in that category, and my hat’s off to both of them. I can’t believe I won. I have YOU readers to thank!

Thank you, thank you, thank you all so much for voting for me, and thanks to the folks who organize the Black Weblog Awards to begin with. It’s gotta be so much work, and this black blogger sincerely appreciate your efforts.

Over the weekend I’m gonna shout out all of my homies who won (YAY, Soulbounce!!). Right this minute, I wanna share the celebration with you!!!

I dropped hints that something big was coming up throughout August for my bloggiversary, but a giveaway of this magnitude takes time and finesse. Thus, September.

Bellas, my history with the Carol’s Daughter brand goes back to some of the earliest days of Afrobella — Lisa Price inspired me to get up, get out, and get a little something of my own. I figured, if she could turn the hair and beauty concoctions she mixed up in her kitchen into an internationally recognized, sold-in-Sephora brand, then HEY! Maybe this little beauty blog I dreamed up at home could someday grow to be the kind of movement I always wished I could be a part of. I feel great about the progress I’ve made so far!

I wrote the Carol’s Daughter Is It Worth It post in July, and the 100 + comments you left set some powerful wheels in motion! Not only did the CD peeps love all of the feedback — good, bad, indifferent, it just proved how connected customers are to the brand. I can think of very few black hair care and beauty brands that would inspire such an active response. In that review, I came to the conclusion that yes, some Carol’s Daughter products are indeed quite worth it. And the good people at CD hooked you guys up with a very special giveaway of my favorite products!

Five lucky Afrobella readers can win a package containing:

the famous Hair Milk

Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner

Mimosa Hair Honey

Almond Cookie Shea Soufflé

Candy Paint in Bubbling Brown Sugar.

What can you do to get your hands on this beautifying bounty? It’s easy!

Click here to sign up on the special Carol’s Daughter sign up page between now and September 12. They’ll help me to choose five random winners, and I’ll be in touch to get your contact details shortly thereafter.

Have a happy, happy Friday!!! And thank you all so much again. I love you bellas!

  33. Thank you ladies!! It feels good. I’m basking in the glow of victory and love. To celebrate this weekend, I’m just going to kick back and relax as much as possible. Maybe give myself a total day away from a computer screen. I kind of need one, I think!

  34. Wow! I already congratulated you by phone & on an earlier post but now that it’s officially written here in this section I have to congratulate you again.

Please continue to thrive and develop your skills, mentor others and stay eager and fresh.

You should also let readers know about your other recent award!

  35. Much deserved, those awards. I’ve read your blog religiously everyday since I found it over a year ago.
Keep up the good work. Always love reading your perspective on everything and you have turned me on to some other wonderful blogs. I really love how selfless you are about sharing not only your knowledge and interests with your readers, but also the work and talents of your other blogging peers.
Keep up the good work and many happy returns.

  36. Congrats…I love your blog: it’s informative and light hearted and it appeals to all ages. I was impressed when you decided to leave some pretty rank opposing view posts on the Obama nomination. That showed a real blogger’s spirit. They posted vile and then they left! Your readership also are a delight to communicate with. Natural hair off to you!

  37. Congrats!! You deserve it. You and CD are an inspiration-

  38. Go, girl!

  39. Congrats Bella! Your blog is great and it’s always great to see that writing about what you love is so rewarding… it is for those of us who read it! It’s also great to see brands listening to consumers. Thanks CD for this giveaway!

  40. Congrats!!! Absolutely deserved!

Is it my computer messing up or is the link not working(anymore)?

  41. Just tried the link and it works for me, cococure. Try again, or try in Internet Explorer? (I use Firefox). It’s ongoing till the 12 so keep on trying and if more readers tell me it isn’t working, I’ll let CD know.

Apologies to my international readers — I’ve had international giveaways in the past, but I guess this isn’t one of them. And I’ve honestly had problems with international giveaways in the past (wherein my foreign winner somehow never gets the package, and I ask the local PR and they swear to me they sent the item out… how can I investigate further? I can’t. Oh I see). I will try to find a beauty brand totally down to mailing their stuff overseas and have a giveaway for you sometime in the future. I know all too well how it feels to not be eligible to enter.

And thank you readers for your congratulations. My sister Pets left a comment revealing another recent beauty blog victory I had… at a recent South Florida Black Journalist Association event I won the New Media/Blog category for Pretty in the City!

  42. Cheers to you Bella, for working to achieve your dreams and being rewarded for it.

This blog is pinned under my favorites and I come here daily to read your current faves and recommendations.

Enjoy winning the awards, you deserve it!!

  43. CONGRATULATIONS! Well deserved. Excellent success and the best of wishes to you. Please keep up the great work!

  44. golden star says:

    Congratulations! x3!

  45. Congrats. I love carol’s daughter

  46. You already know! *round of applause* Congrats on your other award as well. You are doing it to death over here! By the way, I was actually considering Carnival this year. If I make it, I’ll be sure to contact you beforehand.

  47. I have to thank you and praise you. You’re wonderful.

  48. CONGRATS BELLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. Wonderful! Beautiful!!! I’m happy for you, and proud to see your hard work pay off. Your blog is one of maybe four that I read on a regular basis, and the one I read most often. I’m so glad I found your work and please KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! Your honesty, openness, and joy for life keeps me reading. Thanks, Afrobella. :D

  50. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

  51. Hey bella. My name is crystal and i am a big supporter of Carol’s Daughter. I remember seeing her on Oprah when i still attending hight school. I told myself when i get enough money i will buy at least one of her products- she reminded me of my mother; a proud honest hard working entepreneur. When i attented college i had some money from my refund check… thats when it all started. I bought a body and bath oil for my mom and attempted to buy a saturday morning hair kit for myself. Unfortunately they were out of stock when i tried to purchase it off line. From then on i’ve been buying carol’s daughter item 1 at a time. I just love to support black woman- that’s my professional prejudice~ keep it ladies

  52. Congratulations on you win! I don’t remember how I found your site but ever since I’ve found out about it, It’s nearly impossible for me to go anywhere else for info on beauty.

  53. Ive had the pleasure of meetin her! The sweetest woman Ive ever met! I also have a tip for you ladies.I heard Jessica Alba say in an interview that she used this product called Abs in a Box to get her pre-baby body back. Then I saw these products by a company called It Cosmetics http://www.itcosmetics.com on the Today Show so I thought I would try them. I TOTALLY look like I’ve lost 15 lbs instantly and I feel like I’m finally able to get that in-shape look I’ve been working so hard for in the gym. I used their ABS IN A BOX and SMOKIN’ HOT LEGS. I am now going to order the MY BEAUTIFUL BREASTS kit.

Just thought I’d share this GREAT find!!!

  54. Hi, I am a reader in Tokyo Japan and I love your blog.
Congratulations on the awards. I am also wondering
if the Carol’s Daughter’s give away is open to
    international readers…
