Ning?

| February 8, 2009 | 13 Comments

So bellas – I’ve embarked into a new online world and I don’t know what the heck I’m doing. But I’ll announce it anyway. Welcome to Afrobella’s Ning page!

I don’t quite get what Ning is, but I’m jumping in head first. Any guidance is very much appreciated. I’m very much learning as I go here, so please feel free to join me, add discussions, photos, and let’s communicate!

From what I heard about Ning, it’s a social network creator -like having your own personal myspace or facebook. An Afrobella social network would be amazing!

  2. Malia says:

Hey Afrobella! Love your blog! checked out the Ning page and like the concept.

Check out this shirt for all the afrobellas out there to rock http://shop.casadiculture.com/product/daydreaming-in-cuba-plantain

    Much love, peace and happiness.

  3. bella says:

Malia – love your shirt, but it makes me sad that it only comes in two sizes. Any plans to add more sizes? Plus sizes, perhaps?

  4. Ananda Leeke says:

Congratulations Afrobella on creating a wonderful community. I will include your link on BAP Living social networking site so that BAP Living members know more about this community and join you in your online adventures.

  5. Malia says:

yeah, I got mine in medium but I think they are planning on putting out some larger sizes soon. They did that with their other shirt.

I will keep checking in on Afrobella Ning to see its development. Will you have on-going discussions and topics?

  6. Wes says:

Hey Bella, Elli hit it head on: Ning is a social networking site similar to Facebook and/or Myspace, however you would be the administrator. I think it would be a HUGE asset to the Afrobella movement ;-)

  7. bella says:

Malia – that’s the plan! ongoing discussions about whatever you bellas are interested in.

Wes – thanks for the encouragement! Now trying to figure all of this out. I think it’s going to be a great addition to the “movement,” as you call it! =)

  8. Denise says:

I’m not on too many social networking sites, but I’ll try yours ‘Bella.

Just when I thought I had heard of all the social networking sites. Wow.

I had seen other people with ning accounts and then today someone sent me one and I began debating on whether I would join. Then I popped on your site and saw you had set one up so I definitely think I will as well! Love the site and love your frank honesty!

Great post you should follow up on how Caribbean women are regarded/treated by American women in particular and African American women in general. Saw you guys in the paper this morning and although I’m not a fan of your BAP (bishop’s african princess) views while you’re going to have interracial babies I will say you guys look happy together like its UM all over again.

  13. bella says:

Isme – uh… thanks? I guess? So you went to UM with Steve and I? Interesting. Would love to put a name to the occasional anonymous comments.
    Peace and love to you.
