Even though I’m far away, Trinidad will always be my home. And on days like today I miss the simple pleasures.

Like spending time with my family, going to visit my friends, eating good food like roti and doubles, shark and bake, pholourie, and pelau. I miss drinking Shandy and having the best rum available at the ready. I miss hearing the lapping waters of the ocean while looking back at verdant mountain ranges.

To my friends, family, and fans at home in Trinidad and Tobago, and my Trinis scattered around the world — Happy Independence Day!

I'm not a Trini but have been there many times with friends who are Trini. I have to say Trinidad and Tobago has my heart and I love it. Its like no place on earth and the food, oh my the food, the rum, the music the smiles. Lawd, the sexy men - whew! The sweetness there can't be matched. Happy Independence Day Trinidad and Tobago!

I'm from Trinidad too (Tunapuna). Currently living in California, but there's no place like home. I miss calalou, curry crab, and church with my mother on sunday's.

Too bad we have a state of emergency right now. With a curfew in effect fireworks have been cancled. :(
