If I had to look back on all the posts I’ve written in these past four years and choose the top five most popular…the Donyale Luna: Lost Ones post would definitely rank high on the list. I wrote it in 2007 and to this day I still get occasional comments on it.
I’ve had comments from people who disparage Donyale for her complex relationship with race, comments from fans of her undeniable beauty and elegance – even comments from those who claim to be relatives or former friends.
Now one of the most devoted Donyale Luna fans has now started a blog of his own, entirely devoted to preserving her memory.
If you’re a true fan, visit DonyaleLuna.Wordpress.com and sign up to subscribe to new posts. Rarely seen photos and interviews are scheduled to come, and here’s hoping some of the original commenters who left their statements on my blog back in 2007 will now come forward and contribute to this new, definitive resource that aims to celebrate this lost beauty in all her wonderful complexity.
RIP, Donyale Luna. You continue to be loved and missed.
