Natural Hair and the Goody Simple Styles Hair Pins

| August 13, 2010 | 15 Comments

From the moment the Goody Simple Styles hair pins hit store shelves, I started getting questions in my inbox.

Hey Bella, have you seen that new Spin Pin? Would it work for our hair texture?

Bella, I wanna get the new Modern Updo pin but I’m not sure if I can work it with my natural! Have you tried it?

When the questions started coming in, I reached out to my friends at Goody. And I made a video about it! Wanna see it? Here it goes!

For those of you who don’t have access to video, in summary:

1 – IMO the Modern Updo pin is probably best for bellas with long, thick curls, sisterlocs, or long, thin locs. The point is, length. If your hair is my length or shorter, an updo is more challenging.

2 – the Goody Spin Pins ROCK and if you’re looking for a new take on the bobby pin to put your hair up – look no further. They go into natural, kinky, coily hair really easily, and give a lot of hold. If you’re a product junkie always wanting to try the new hotness, I’d recommend you start with the spin pin.

3 – I am not a hairstylist, or even very good at styling my own hair. Please don’t judge!

Have you tried Goody’s new Simple Styles hair accessories? What are your thoughts?

My hair is too short & I’m bummed. I’ve been wanting these and the pony pouf since I’ve seen them!!! I’m such a junky that I plan to buy them today when I go to Target to save for when my hair grows longer lol. I’ve also convinced my sister to try them too. I think she’ll love it.

There are a couple of reviews on curlynikki that really sold me on both of these products.

Goody is really stepping it up!! I have been loving the outchless pony holders & headbands for a long time; but now I see in Target these beautiful colorful headbands & other accessories! And they’re priced just right too.

I picked up the new goody pins. My hair is straight and fine-medium in texture. I’ve been able to put my hair up in two buns (one pin per bun) at a time. I really like them. I’ve also managed a half bun at the top of my head.

I’m with you, I’m loving all the new Goody products. Ouchless pony tail holders, the special headbands, and now these.

Thanks for the post on the spin pins! I’ve had them for a month and didn’t use them cause I could’t figure it out!

Wow, I love your hair. Do you cut it into shape?

I saw these about a month ago but since I am cutting my locs off I did not buy them….hmm.. may give them a try .
I do use their decorative hairpins to keep stray locs in place when I do a basket weave

I’ve had a bad experience with good hair pins. I bought some from Wal Mart that were really pretty and colorful, yet when I wore them in my hair, the paint wore off and got into my hair. I had to take out the pretty accessories and wash the paint out my hair.

i bought these about a month ago and was glad they came in a pack of two because one was immediately claimed by daughter. Once you get the position of the pin, you just twist it clock wise and counterclock wise to remove. I do think it holds the hair very well.

  11. As soon as I saw these, I wanted to buy one. The half updo/fountain updo with natural hair is one of my favorite styles to wear when I take my protective style down but I don’t feel like wearing my hair all the way “out” yet. Thx Bella, I will have to pick one of these up. I just hope my kinks don’t break it, lol!

Those pins look good. I will explore whether I can get them here in the UK.

I have indeed tried these and I love them. I use them any time I wear my mohawk or any of my side swept updos. They really look good and I always get compliments on them. My hair is very thick and I have no problem taking them out. Go get them y’all!!

Your video was helpful. I have a bit long to go as I’m growing out my BC – but maybe next year :-)
