I don’t normally try to be ~this blogger~ who tweets and posts details on the awesome packages I might receive as soon as I rip them open…but I will admit to uttering an ecstatic gasp when I opened this right here. OK. More like a small scream.
Yes. I was blessed enough to be sent the jaw droppingly gorgeous, super luxe Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad in Burnished Amber, by the lovely folks at Tom Ford Beauty. In fact, according to the lovely note included in the package, I was the first blogger to be sent this particular item.
I’m telling you, I let out a small scream. Just loud enough for my husband to give me a crazy look. I couldn’t help it, it’s TOM FORD. And this eyeshadow quad is SO PERFECT for fall! The colors are rich and resplendent and look STUNNING on brown skin. And it’s the kind of quad that you can multitask with – with the right brush and a deft touch, the darker colors could make gorgeous blush or lip colors.
At $75, it’s definitely one of the higher end eye makeup items in my collection. I started playing with it right away, but I wanted to put it to the test so I can let you all know if this is truly worth it. I asked acclaimed and awesome Chicago makeup artist Bisi Essien (AKA @BisiCrystalEyez on Twitter) to do my makeup for a special fall photo shoot, and I asked her to only use this Burnished Amber eyeshadow quad on my eyes.
Bisi is AMAZING! Photos by Chuck Olu-Alabi. Can’t wait to show you the whole shoot!
These colors blend together beautifully, creating a warm, gilded sunset effect for your eyelids. Can you find dupes for these colors? Yes, probably. I can think of Urban Decay and MAC and Prescriptives eyeshadows I’ve used in the past that compare, in terms of shade and finish. But this comes together in such a beautiful and luxe package. I love it. At $75 you’re in the realm of high end makeup. It’s an indulgence. A fabulous splurge. And the quality is to die for.
Here’s the finished look. What do you think?
