Ah, Valentine’s Day. The day where the world celebrates love, with hearts and candy and chocolate and jewelry and fancy dinners and everything’s pink and red. Some of us love it and celebrate wholeheartedly. Many others have really strong anti-Valentine’s day feelings and I can’t say that I blame them. If you’re single, it’s a time of nonstop reminders that honestly can be triggering and depressing. Same goes for anyone in a not-so-great relationship. Or for anyone who hates materialism. Valentine’s Day can be a whole lot.
Here’s my thing about Valentine’s Day – you can’t let it get you down. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got someone to celebrate with or not, you gotta love yourself. Celebrate yourself. Treat yourself! Take yourself out on a date if you want to. Or just pamper yourself from head to toe with deliciously scented lotions, potions and scrubs like the goddess you were born to be.
If you’re looking for a Valentine’s Day treat that isn’t fattening but still manages to be absolutely yummy, you’ll love this DIY Valentine’s Day Chocolate Coconut Sugar Scrub. It’s super moisturizing and will help get rid of dry, rough, weather-beaten skin from head to toe. You will smell amazingly edible afterwards. You can make it for yourself, or package it prettily in a mason jar to give as a gift to someone you know who loves and deserves a little pampering.
This recipe comes via Amy Ippoliti and it uses Nutiva Organic Coconut Sugar, Virgin Coconut Oil and Hemp Oil, but you can use whatever substitutes are in your beauty pantry. If you don’t happen to have coconut sugar, you can substitute coarse brown sugar instead!
Homemade DIY Chocolate Coconut Sugar Scrub
Yield: Makes about 1.5 cups
Pre Time: About 10 minutes
Ingredients:
1 cup loosely packed Coconut Sugar
1/2 cup Coconut Oil (in solid form)
1/3 cup Hemp Oil
2 tablespoons unsweetened organic cocoa powder
10 drops of essential oil of your choice: (coconut extract and vanilla for soothing decadence, or mandarin and peppermint for energy and circulation)
Garnish with broken chocolate bar and/or raw cacao nibs!
Instructions: Put all ingredients together in a large bowl and mix until well combined. Use the back of a spoon or a spatula to get the coconut oil chunks to break down. To enjoy the scrub, simply rub it into your skin (not on your face) in a circular motion and rinse off! You can add more water to your skin to “reactivate” the mixture and keep scrubbing for an even better polish! The hemp and coconut oil is so moisturizing, you might find that once you towel off from the shower, no moisturizer is necessary to apply.
Remember, no matter what your Valentine’s Day might have in store for you, you’ve gotta love yourself no matter what and celebrate the skin you’re in. Hope you enjoy. Be sweet to yourself. Sending you love, my bellas and fellas!

Omg!!!! It is my favourite body scrub now. I like chocolate flavor and smell of chocolate. And in one time I like coconut oil. But i don’t understand why you add Hemp Oil? Anyway I will try to make this scrub in any case. Please, If you have free minute, can you explain why you added hemp oil???
