Is It Spring Yet? Behold, the Beauty in Bloom at Target!

by afrobella

The sun is out and the sky is blue, and I’m hoping it stays like this long enough to melt all the snow in Chicago! I’m SO over this winter thing. Snow on the ground and grey skies have been killing my mojo and my joie de vivre. I’m ready for leaves on the trees and fresh flowers sprouting from the earth. It’s time for Springtime! Can we get the wheels in motion, already?

The weather might not reflect that Spring is almost here, but I can feel it in my favorite stores. It’s no longer about heavy knits, it’s all about breezy fabrics and florals. And in terms of beauty, the deep berries and edgy metallics of winter are moving into something warmer, glowier, and prettier. Spring has sprung on the beauty calendar, and I’m actually finding a lot of great new product finds at Target – let me share my favorites with you!

I still need to take you inside my most recent Target Inner Circle beauty experiences! First things first, let me share my beauty inspirations and the products I’m using to switch things up for Spring!

Bright, beautiful eyes

During winter I was doing strong, retro looks – think fierce winged liner and deep red lips. For spring I’m switching into a more playful, colorful but still wearable look. Think long, lush lashes thanks to CoverGirl ClumpCrusher by LastBlast. And the colors in the new L’oreal Colour Riche Quad are so perfect for the season we’re switching into. SO pretty! A bold lashline accentuated with teal or purple shadow applied with a wet brush can make for a fun way to switch up the usual dark winged liner.

Pretty pastel nails – I usually tend to go for bold, bright colors but spring usually dictates pink, pink, pink and I’m not feeling that. I’m not a pink kind of girl. I AM feeling some other pastels, like Essie Lilacism – a softer way to do purple. And have you seen Action? That’s a spring into summer color I look forward to getting into!

All bronze everything

Sonia Kashuk bronzer

– Ever since Sam Fine introduced me to bronzer, I’ve been obsessed with it. A good bronzer will make your cheekbones pop and your skin glow like you just got back from St. Tropez. And the bronzer du jour that I’m OBSESSED with is by none other than Sonia Kashuk – did you see my tweet about it this week?

@thebiggirlblog @soniakashuk @target @targetstyle I highly recommend the Illuminating Bronzer in Goddess. So absolutely gorgeous on us

— afrobella (@afrobella) March 5, 2013

I LOVE it! Her Illuminating Bronzer in Goddess is everything. I got turned all the way out during a DIY makeup session with Sonia herself, and it’s changed my world. LOOK. I’m rocking it in this photo – this is me and Sonia Kashuk,  when I visited with Target Inner Circle recently!

Afrobella Sonia Kashuk

This bronzer competes in quality with others I’ve tried from high end department stores, bellas. Don’t sleep on Sonia Kashuk’s makeup, she’s got some killer products in Target stores right now. Expect a bigger post on this later!

A sizzling lip –

SO ever since my last lipstick post, you bellas have been asking for a drugstore/more affordable dupe list of must-have lipsticks for women of color. Consider this a spoiler alert – check out the new Maybelline Lip Colors. They are FIERCE. Department store colors and pigmentation at drugstore prices. Get into a Brazen Berry or Vibrant Mandarin for spring and shake things up.

True, spring time will be great sporting a bronzer. And wearing one bright lipstick makes every woman more beautiful.
