The Queen Latifah COVERGIRL Black Girls Rock 2013! Beauty Product Breakdown By Sam Fine!

by afrobella

Last night I was sponsored by my friends at COVERGIRL, to host their official Black Girls Rock! #EasyBreezyQueen  Twitter party! We discussed beauty and music and fashion, and my friend Sam Fine (@SamFineBeauty) broke down the beauty trends and top products, in his official role as COVERGIRL Beauty Ambassador! I specifically had to press Sam on ALL details involving Queen Latifah, she looked SO resplendent in gold.

And he came through with the official product details, especially for Afrobella! YAY! And can you believe that Queen Latifah was worried?

Don’t give away all my beauty secrets! ???? RT @SamFineBeauty: @BET! Join me, @afrobella & @COVERGIRL 4 the beauty scoop! #BlackGirlsRock 8pm

There is NOTHING to worry about! Number one, Queen Latifah is gorgeous. And number two, Sam is a PRO! This is what he DOES. He is such a professional, he knows exactly what makeup to use, how best to contour the look, and what to pack in his client’s purse to make sure the look lasts all night. Genius that he is. What did Sam use on Queen to make her look so flawless? I’ll let him break it down! Take it away, Sam!

“Makeup is often inspired by the outfit and after seeing the shimmering copper and black dress, I decided to go for the gold! Queen was being honored with the BGR! “Rock Star” Award so she had to have a show-stopping beauty look!

Every red carpet look begins with a great foundation! I used COVERGIRL Queen Collection All Day Flawless 3-in -1 Foundation in Toffee #Q820. Not only does it provide flawless looking skin, it helped Latifah maintain a shine-free finish that lasted all through the night.

I frequently use two bronzers to achieve the perfect glow! COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer in Brown Bronze #Q110 matches Latifah’s complexion perfectly and can be used in place of blush. Yet, for a more dramatic effect, I used a bronzer one shade deeper (Ebony Bronze #Q120) around the outer perimeter of the face – hairline, cheekbones, etc – to add dimension and gently contour her gorgeous face!

I’m often responsible for packing Latifah’s purse for an all-night affair… and the only product she needed for an occasion like Black Girls Rock! is a touch of COVERGIRL Queen Collection Lasting Matte Pressed Powder in Golden #Q410 applied to her T-zone – around the nose, center of the face… and of course a lip (but more on that later).

For red carpet events I suggest choosing one feature and making the most of it! For the awards I decided to make it all about the eyes! I started by applying COVERGIRL Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Melted Caramel #330 from the lashline to the crease and gently blending outwards toward the hairline for a sexy, sultry, elongated eye. I topped off my shadow work, by drawing a dramatic line using COVERGIRL Ink it! Liner by in Black Ink #230 and few coats of COVERGIRL Queen Collection Lash Fanatic Mascara in Very Black #Q115. Lastly, I applied COVERGIRL Queen Collection Vivid Impact Eyeliner in Midnight #300 inside the inner rim for added drama!

Allowing the eyes to take center stage, I opted for a nude lip using one of my favorite COVERGIRL Queen Collection products, Jumbo Gloss Balm in Twinkling Toffee #Q855 – just twist up and glide on for subtle color with a hint of shine.”
Amazing. And for bellas with deeper lip colors who want to rock a nude lip, Sam recommends dabbing a bit of foundation over your lips, blotting and then applying Jumbo Gloss Balm. Win all around!

I’m trying to master more of a golden nude look myself, so this is right on time! Thanks, Sam and thanks COVERGIRL!

Afrobella, Sam & Covergirl the Queen looked amazing!

I just sorry that because it was tweeting party the blog readers and Facbook followers of Afrobella did not get to see her also as beautifully made up as Queen Latifah – if possible can that be done next time and the Tweeter become one of the tweeted?

Ah-mazing! What an awesome experience. I love the Flamed Out shadow pots, too. Think I need to take a trip to Duane Reade at lunch!

Hope you have a great weekend, lady.

Wonderful blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring
writers? I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m a
little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like
Wordpress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there
that I’m completely confused .. Any suggestions? Kudos!
