The first time I put on one of Monif C’s Marilyn convertible dresses, I was lucky. I visited Monif’s boutique in New York City and found myself faced with a veritable rainbow of dresses. The first one I tried on, was teal. And as you can see, it was love at first tie.
Monif’s amazing right hand man Brandon tied the dress on me, and helped bring the whole convertible experience to LIFE. (I ADORE Brandon!) I absolutely fell in love with the convertible dress and with the variety it offers. You can tie it in so many ways!! Instead of teal, I chose the dress in citron and I wore it to the Uptown Boomerang 20th Anniversary Party in Los Angeles.
I felt like a PRINCESS in this dress and I got SO many compliments on it.
As you can see, I tied it differently (and dare I say, not as expertly as Brandon had done). I’m a big big fan of the convertible dress style and I must say, trying one on let me KNOW that I needed one (or two) in my wardrobe. And besides the renowned Marilyn convertible, Monif C.’s got incredibly beautiful dresses for fall.
Monif doesn’t come to the Midwest often. But the incredible Lydia Hamilton-Monnie, owner of Milwaukee’s Boutique Larrieux, is bringing Monif out our way for TWO truly special events – one at the boutique in Milwaukee on the 19th, and the other in a truly fabulous location here in Chicago. I can’t disclose the location here but trust and believe, it is swanky, elegant, everything, and then some!

I love Boutique Larrieux – it’s a beautiful shop! As for the dress, one thing that always trips me up with convertible pieces is actually getting it to look . . . right. I feel like I need a team of stylists to help me. Is the Marilyn dress pretty easy to work with?
